Room for improvement but could be great.
A mixed bag, staff, service, breakfast all very good. The building is tired and dated. The decor and condition of my room made it feel like i was in student digs, it didn't look like it had been painted for years. The bed was clearly second hand and the mattress lumpy and sagged in the middle. I had the bathroom across the hall which was tiny, I am not a big person and I struggled to turn around in it. The shower had little pressure in it and all the mastick and tiles need replacing due to mould ingrained in them. I have stayed in other 3 star hotels which are in a far better state. I know its good value for money in the Clifton area however compared to other 3 star properties i was disappointed with some aspects of it.

The Washington
Our room was situated just next to the breakfast room in the basement. Next to the stairs. When guests arrived in the opposite room you could hear every sound. The room was quite small, in dire need of renovation. The windows were very dirty , curtains as well. Carpet was not cleaned behind beds and the whole room just felt old and unpleasant. The bathroom was very small, the toilet was positioned too close to the sink so it was not very comfortable to use as there was not enough space to sit without touching the sink. The floor was new and the sink was clean, but it overall it felt in need of a good clean. The beds were comfortable. The staff was very helpful and very friendly, especially the kitchen staff. Breakfast was very good, buffet was ok. The area is good, there is a nice bar just on the corner and its a 20 min walk into town. Would not stay again because of the room.
