Do not stay in Room 406 its appalling
I wouldn't stay here again, although the staff were very nice the room was appaling and scruffy, the carpet wasnt cleaned when i got there, i trod on someones toenails and there were bits all over the carpet, the blind didnt shut so i couldn't put the bedroom light on because i could see outside so that meant people could see i , the trough of the shower was mouldy and dirty, there were hairs left in it and also the small sink in the bathroom had hairs in it too, the pedal bin still had the previous occupants old razor and toothbrush and wipes in it, the toilet wasnt attached to the floor so everytime you sat on the toilet then the toilet tipped up, there also is no wardrobe in this room, very disappointed and all i got offered was a free breakfast, i darent eat anything if the room was anything to go by, wont be staying here again, I'll get a sleeping bag outside McDonald's doorway. Take your own shower gel cos mine was empty in the shower and didnt get refilled after asking for some plus take your own hoover as either theres doesnt work or they never hoovered the carpet as i requested.

clean & convenient- but spoilt by poor maintenance
Hotel's in a good location (perfect for Central Station). The reception staff were friendly enough, & the next day (on checkout) agreed to me leaving my bag until later in the day. It has a convenient lift by reception. My 4th floor attic room (with skylight window & very creaky floorboards) was VERY small but clean, with a comfortable, firm single bed, small TV & kettle etc. The bathroom was clean, but both the tiny wash-hand basin & shower tray were cracked, & the modern shower-head was loose (with water spraying out the sides until I tightened the screw). In the bedroom, the TV aerial was unplugged & (once I’d put that right, I discovered) the TV wasn’t even tuned properly. The only free double socket in the room was inaccessible behind the bed’s headboard. The wifi wasn’t working (the receptionist had given me an access code, but could have saved me lots of time by telling me it wasn’t available!) When I then tried to find tourist info from a magazine in the room, I discovered that the listings were all months out of date. My sleep was disturbed by a lot of engine/motor noise coming from the room next door, which I told the receptionist about when I checked out: she said there were 2 boilers in there which shouldn’t be noisy, but agreed to go & check them out – I got no feedback or apology when I returned to collect my bag. In short, I paid for a poor night’s sleep in a very tiny noisy room (401) with most of its facilities damaged or not working properly!

Artto Hotel, Glasgow
The tap in the bathroom did not appear to work, I went down in the morning to get water for the kettle and was informed that it did work and was shown by the cleaner how to tip the tap back. I got soaked when I did this myself. i asked why I hadn't been told the previous evening when I'd checked in but was met with frozen stares. The tap was obviously previously a problem so why has it not been sorted of at least guests not told about it when checking in?!!!!! The shower was cold on both occasions I used it and I also complained about this but was told to adjust the dial, do they really think that I hadn't already tried this; I'm not completely incompetent. The carpet was stained and felt very musty and the room smelled stale despite the window being open. Frankly a completely over-inflated price for a very faded, lack-lustre hotel room. The lady on reception the evening I checked in was the only positive note as she was friendly, the morning staff looked at me as if I had horns coming out of my head when I asked for water. An absolute disgrace to Glasgow and Scotland and a very poor representation of Scottish hospitality. Manners cost nothing.

Overpriced Basic Hotel
The room booked was a twin - I got a double bed. The room was tight with the fixed table to the bed making access to the en-suite difficult. The en-suite as in a terrible condition: the back of the toilet being stuck to the wall by silicone sealant but there were large gaps; the sealant around the sink and toilet was generally messy and not clean; the floor tiles were loose with one tile which could be lifted; the shower tray was dirty and scratched; the shower cubicle was very dirty around the doors; the water temperature was lukewarm in the shower but there was hot water from the taps in the sink so I had to make do with a wash over the sink. I mentioned the water temperature to the member of staff on checking out but she did not seem that bothered about my experience - only that she would go and check the boiler to see if it was working ok. After that response, I decided it was a waste of time to mention the other concerns I had. My stay was one night as I was attending a gig. It was very overpriced given the type of accommodation on offer. Very dissatisfied.

Good 6.0
Mixed opinions.
Stayed a couple of nights over a weekend and not a fantastic experience to be fair. Rooms were clean and comfortable, maybe a bit small, but lots of niggly little things were off putting. Bathroom floor tiles were loose, carpet worn, window didn't shut, tv reception terrible, a light didn't work, some fittings were badly installed, shower was nothing more than a trickle in the morning. Room was overlooking Hope Street, and it was very busy and noisy until 2.30am. Local pubs with music, revellers shouting and traffic. To top it off though, at 6.00am Sunday someone thought it would be great to have the windows cleaned. So, for two hours we had the noise of the crane/mobile lift outside in the street and two rather loud locals chatting away whilst they cleaned our windows. I mentioned it at reception later but was met with indifference. Breakfast was fine. £6 for the continental option, or £10 to include a cooked breakfast. The hotel is in the same building as an Indian Restaurant. Must be same owners. We ate there one evening and it was fine. The only issue is the smell of indian spices are everywhere in the hotel building. It got a bit too much to be honest, and I like curry! So, it's alright, but needs some TLC, and maybe need to up their game with the customer service and improved fixtures and fittings if they want to compete with the Premier Inns and Travelodges.
