Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu
First class hotel in a great location
This is a genuinely excellent hotel, especially the staff who were polite friendly and wholly professional. The view out over the bay was just awesome.

Brilliant hotel
We loved this hotel. The staff bent over backwards to help, particularly when we had difficulties confirming a tour we'd independently organised, to climb Mt Kinabalu. The room was excellent, and extremely comfortable. We had floor to ceiling windows facing over the water, for a spectacular view. The only downsides were the terrible fishy smell wafting across the hotel entrance, from the night market on the opposite side of the road, and the hotel is in a central, but fairly unappealing area. However, these two points are no reflection on the hotel, which we thought was excellent. It's a short drive to the jetty for transfers to the islands, best taken by Uber, as our 10 minute drive cost twice what our Uber drive from the airport took, which was probably 4 times the distance. (It was still quite cheap though, by British standards.) Breakfast was great. We didn't eat at the hotel, but the staff offered us good recommendations for restaurants.

Very kind friendly staff. Especially Rican who helped us when our tour was late arriving. Lovely hotel, great location in the centre of town.

Very Good8.0
nice hotel in good location
Nice hotel with excellent breakfast but we were a bit disappointed that the room was not ready when we arrived after a 6 hour drive, leaving no time to swim that evening, then the pool was closed for maintainance next morning so still no chance to swim. Excellent central location and generally high quality.

Hotel lobby, restaurant and pool area fantastic. Room horrendous. Dirty, dated, smelt stale and as if no one had been in there for awhile. Hotel was central but opposite market so stank strongly of fish during the day. We ate in the Italian restaurant. The food was quite good, the desserts fantastic and prices reasonable. Staff were good but overly attentive, at one point there were 3 staff members around our table clearing leaving things fiddling etc. when they weren't around the table a few would just stare at us while we ate waiting for us to finish. Overall I felt the communal areas and staff were generally to a very high standard but the room felt as if it were in a different hotel. For this reason we will not stay at this hotel again.
