Very good 8.0
A fine hotel including an excellent breakfast
John, gb3 night trip
Poor 2.0
No security processes in place
We experienced an unauthorized entry into our room @ 2AM on NY eve - I.e. someone used a key to enter the room and left quickly as I got up and shouted. I was traveling with my wife and young son, who were both sleeping at the time - one can imagine how we felt knowing that this could have happened - but unfortunately it gets worse! I reported the situation immediately to the front of house (in person) and no action was taken for over 24 (we reported the issue 3 times to different people - and none of them had Any knowledge of the incident or reported it (it’s as if it wasn’ important). Clearly no security processes in place (and lack of adequate training to the front of house staff) at this hotel, which is shocking for a Marriot - especially in the “age of terrorism”. Only after asking to see the Manager on duty and then the General Manager upon our check out were we informed that a hotel key had been stolen from the reception desk by an unknown perpetrator, that other guests had been affected, and that the police is involved. Sadly, we weren’t given any formal letter of apology and only when we complained (spent over an hour doing so) was I offered some sort of compensation. It felt as if they were making it up as they went along. Acceptable for a b&b, not for a 4* Marriot Hotel. The general manager has since then followed up personally over email, but the whole security reporting process (or lack thereof) was a really scary and unbelievable experience.

Very good 8.0
Improvements in staff politeness
The hotel is very good. However, as we have read before booking this hotel, the staff are not as gentle as you would expect in a hotel like this. The reception are helpful but there are some employees, specially from the restaurant and breakfast area, that does not care with the clients. I saw a very stressed scene of one employee blaming one customer, as she was taking “too much water(!)” and the “water is for everybody, not only for her (?!)”. It was just water!! The lack here is a little more “politeness”, it is not a cheap hotel.

Exceptional 10.0
The service was great. The reception desk paid great attention to everything! It was a wonderful stay and I have recommended this hotel to friends too :)
Anisha, gb3 night trip with friends
Exceptional 10.0
Great room, great staff and great food
Great location with bars and restaurants nearby, out of the city centre but close enough to reach within 15 mins by Uber, lots of them available. The staff were friendly and efficient ensuring we had a great stay. We opted for the Premium Room and my wife rated it in her top 2 hotel rooms in the last 5 years. High praise as we spend a lot of time in hotels through work and play. We are dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent, the breakfast choices were very good. Our second time to Vienna but first in the Renaissance, we will definitely be back.
