Reykjavik Hostel Village
I am deeply unhappy with the hotel room and service. I paid for and booked a double room only to be given two matressess pushed together on the floor. The pictures of the room advertised and the quality of the bathroom did not match what we were given. There was even no shampoo or shower wash to use. The room was dusty as well and the pillowcase was so old it was torn and moth eaten and I had to complain to have it changed with a marginally better one. The sheets were stained as well. It really ruined the experience pf my stay and I will not only not return There but advise all my friends an colleagues to avoid this establishment. The people were pleasant enough but the conditions were dismal and depressed me. I would have moved hotels but I didn't have time to research alternatives as I had booked trips every day. I woke up with pain in my neck every day due to the poor quality of the mattress. The building was poorly kept and crumbling from the outside. It looked derelict and quite frankly I was shocked guests were allowed to stay there. The room was also advertised to have its own sink but this was not the case either as there was only a shared bathroom. This was difficult and a few times almost caused us to miss out trip. Overall I was really disappointed as I felt there was misadvertising about the room. I would not have booked if it was portrayed in it's real light.

Average Stay
It was a little outdated, needs a bit of a renovation. The bathrooms were old, but pretty well maintained. The floors felt like they hadn't been cleaned in a while as there was dust and dirt all over the place. The staff were nice and the bed itself was comfortable. The breakfast was really good too.

Cheap budget hostel!
24 hour reception was good, don't whatever you do look under the bed, it is filthy!! Breakfast is ok as long as you get it by 7:30 otherwise they don't replenish the good stuff!

Great Value for Money
It was really cozy and comfortable staying there for 3nights. I was very happy that the room was really warm and I could adjust the heating accordingly. Shared bathroom and shower wasn't fancy but the sink in my room was ace. Overally I was happy with the room, location and a 30% discount deal.

Dirty, but good location and good employee
My son and I had a private room. The location was good, very close to everything but not right in the main area so it wasn't noisy. I also found the man at the front desk to be very nice and helpful. First thing when we arrived, I always check for bed bugs. I was surprised to find that there was no bed cover which isn't the case in most hostels I've stayed in. Also, the bed had blood all over it. There was little spots, big spots. There was old urine stains and holes in the mattress as well. It is the dirtiest mattress I've ever seen in my life. It prompted me to do a VERY good check of the whole room for bed bugs which luckily I didn't find evidence of, but that mattress really needs replaced. Every time the sheet shifted I was laying on this dirty, blood soaked mattress. Also, the bathroom wasn't that clean and I found out that the house cleaners normally only come every other day. I really appreciate the service from the guy that was working there and how he was caring. My son was sick while we were there and multiple times he checked to see if he was OK and he called the house keeper in to clean our room after my son got sick in it. He was also very knowledgeable about Iceland. I would have rated this place 1 star if it wasn't for the employee being 5 star. Things to note, our room had a bed, desk, sink, and small fridge. I would not stay there again just due to the cleanliness issues and a private room really isn't that cheap.
