The room is clean, spacious, modern and is decorated in a Japanese style. It‘s within walking distance to a lot of must see spots in Tainan. Breakfast was decent, you have couple of option to choose from. Hotel crew is very friendly, and ready to help, they ordered a taxi for us on a last day 👍

Loved this immaculate hotel which is in a remodeled commercial building. Nice staff, several breakfast options, great location for walking to Shennong Street, Hayashu Department Store, Garden St. Night Market, and more. Good location with lots of food within walking distance. Staff was always helpful and the breakfast was great. Hotel had everything you needed and presented in a modern clean environment. Two critiques are 1.where they put the toilet paper access. But that’s more of a design flaw more than anything. 2. Outside noise which I’m not sure they can really do any thing about. There were people talking and being very loud right outside our window all the way into 3-4 am and although most of the noise was faint there were times it would be really loud and wake us. So if you’re a light sleeper I’d recommend asking for a non street facing room

Service and room was excellent! We had originally booked 3 nights in a room with tatami mats, but after our arrival, we realized it was not for us and we had made a mistake. We asked the hotel staff if we could switch to a room with a bed for the remainder of the stay and they were so generous to accommodate the request. Breakfast each morning was excellent and this is the perfect location to explore the West Central District by foot. Great food and drink options all in walking distance. Highly recommended!

Cleanliness is top notched. Room is big. Some basic necessities could be requested during the stay. Concierge speaks good English and is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. There are many eateries around the hotel and some tourist spots are within walking distance. 1 night stay on a Sunday night cost about USD50 and it comes with free breakfast for 2 pax.

It’s like falling in love at the first sight. Since looking at Retro Taipan’s pictures on Google review, I know this is the one. It has a unique appeal with its combination of Japanese vintage and industrial design. Moreover, the location is surrounded by many attractions and delicious foods within walking distance. Above all, its top-notch mention is COMFORT! Spacious room, just-the-right-hardness of mattress dressed in a crisp linen, spotless bathroom with Japanese toilet & aromatic scented of shampoo and bath gel….free-refills of drinking water, delish breakfast & Mandeiling coffee..I can’t ask for more.
