Very good 8.0
Pleasant hotel, easy walking distance of city
Very friendly welcome, staff were all very pleasant and helpful when required. Hotel is a 20 minute walk from the canal area, where there are plenty of bars and restaurants, or there is a bus stop just outside too. Only downsides for us were that the bar shut early , presumably when no one is about that's it, and our room (10) was as far from reception as you can get and it meant a long, winding route, up AND down stairs, with heavy bags. Obviously this can't be helped, but maybe an entrance with a key card lock somewhere around the rear as the car park reaches all the way round there and would have been more helpful.

Very good 8.0
Friendly and helpful staff
We stayed for three mid-week nights at the Plough & Harrow. It has a great location just a 5-10 minute walk from Birmingham city centre. The staff are very friendly and helpful, particularly Gloria and Khalia in the restaurant at breakfast time. The cooked breakfast is delicious and there is a choice of cereals, though no muesli, which we would have liked. We feel the breakfast time finishes too early at 9am (10 at the weekend) - it should be at least 9.30 or 10 - in line with other hotels (Premier Inn 10.30). Not everyone wants to be up early for breakfast. The hotel itself is looking a little tired in some areas and we feel it needs a facelift. There is also no lift and as our room was in the annexe, we had to carry our bags up the main staircase, along a few corridors and negotiate several steps & stairs on the way - we managed ok but if you were incapacitated in some way it would be a struggle. However, we did find a rear door open near our room which made for easier removal of our bags on departure. There is a nice little terrace off the dining room with bench tables and seats, with extra ones on the lawn - we feel more could be made of this lovely lawned area, with a water feature, gazebo and twinkly lights. On the whole a very pleasant stay and we would use the hotel again.

Good stay
We stayed overnight. Finding the car park was a bit difficult but after that we had a good stay with a lovely room and helpful staff.

Will happily stay again
Really welcoming stay. Very helpful staff. My only reservation was that it was a warm night and our window didn't open very far - but then I overlooked that we had been left a fan - my fault! Will stay again if I am in the area, Very easy to get to the cricket from the hotel.

Friendly staff and comfortable hotel.
Excellent, friendly service at Reception and in the dining room. Rooms were spacious and comfortable although because it was so hot, both hot tap and cold taps produced very hot water! Came into bar on Friday night. Nobody else was there but the Irish coffee took ages to arrive.
