Could do better in the restaurant
Overall the stay was good, but very disappointed by the quality of the restaurant food. We expected much better from a 4 star hotel. Because of this, we went to a local pub on our 2nd night

The hotel is big and comfortable with modern decor. Check in was quick and friendly. I had a free night which brought the price down but if I hadn't I would have been disappointed with the room which is about the same as you would get in a premier inn nothing special and noise insulation was terrible could hear the people in the next room and the loud music from the function going on which thankfully finished at midnight. The bar was nice and comfortable again with freindly staff. I didnt use the health club so cant comment on it. Breakfast was a buffet and as I was waiting with some other people a very stressed member of staff appeared then disappeared. Finally a woman appeared and told us to sit anywhere as they were short staffed. The food on the buffet was hot but the coffee was cold obviously needed replenishing but was maybe due to lack of staff. Jam for the toast had also run out. Note that the car park can be busy and the additional parking is a fair walk away from the entrance there are however disabled spaces next to the entrance. Normally on a discounted rate the hotel is double figures

Horrible breakfast and bed could have been better
Stayed here for one night in January to break up our journey. After reading reviews I picked this over the holiday inn. Check in was quick, plenty of parking. I was somewhat disappointed, the double bed was on fact two singles pushed together so the wife and I hade the uncomfortable divide to sleep across. Finally, To quote a 2 year old girl sat with her family in the restaurant for breakfast. “Mummy this breakfast is so yucky”. The beans were like porridge, the eggs as dry as the shrivelled up Entry level sausages. I really think this resultant should look as just serving the cooked items to order. The staff were exceptional, polite, friendly and well presented. We did not eat an evening meal at the hotel as the restaurant opened at 1900 and we did not fancy the bad menu. We drive 1 mile to the coach and horses and had a fabulous meal. Hopefully the management read these comments and make improvements.

Room ok apart from being very dark 1 light not working 1 other light didnt even have a bulb. Long walk to Main facilities from the room down a very cold corridor. Limited Menu in Restaurant. Plus side close to A303 and plenty of parking.

Nice hotel watch out for service charges
Nice hotel. Very clean and has friendly staff. Food is nice however as it is a business trip i collected receipts for expenses. This is the third time that all receipts showed i had been charged 10% service charge. Each time When i questioned why i would be charged service charges for standing at a bar and collecting my own food and drink it was explained as accidental charges. So watch out.

Fair 4.0
Average at best, generally poor.
The hotel is tired, the staff are very young and although they are nice appear to be badly managed and not very professional. This place bills itself as high end / luxury type spa, its not, average at best. The rooms in a premier inn are far better and cleaner. The facilities are distinctly average, the restaurant menu is limited and the standard of food is pretty poor. The breakfast is ok. I think they fail to invest in staff and can't handle both hotel customers and wedding parties. Average at best, generally poor.

Fair 4.0
Visited for a couples mini break and had high hopes of a 4star country retreat but we were sadly disappointed by the whole experience. The main house looked lovely but most of the accommodation and dining is based in the additional buildings which felt very much like a Travelodge. Summary : Terrible room service, Dirty/mouldy shower, Uninspiring breakfast, Uncomfortable bed.
