Fabulous 8.8 From 365 reviews

Fair 4.0
The service at this hotel was among the worst I've experienced, especially for what was meant to be a 4* establishment. Staff were indifferent and not interested in us as guests. 4 out of the 5 of us had to change rooms due to false advertising of the rooms or noise. Wine hour was a disappointment - only 2 wines which stayed the same every day. Overall I wouldn't recommend.

Good 6.0
Chose hotel due to rating on trip advisor/price. Hotel 'quaint' - in need of a lick of paint. Room spacious, separate seating area. Offered a King room, with bed settee if room not big enough for 4 (2 adults 2 teenage daughters) but we found the 2 queen beds ok. The reception staff are very helpful and printed our boarding passes for our flight to New York. Complimentary tea/coffee in lobby and wine hour 5-6 pm. They invite you to join them for a glass or 2 but one evening we weren't offered any after 10 minutes hanging around - so left. Took valet parking for convenience ($40/night !) but we saw a 24h garage across the street for $20/night (210 7th street, drive past the hotel and take a right). First night spotted our hire car parked further up Washington avenue, despite being told the cars were kept in a secure compound. Needless to say we didn't tip well. SoBe area had lots of building work and empty shops, also a lot of ??homeless (generally ok, except for a gentleman shouting shoot the m*f* at ?my husband and a bikini clad older lady wearing a t-shirt for bottoms informing my 12 y old she'd soiled herself). The Art Deco hotels along ocean drive look beautiful at night when they are lit up. SoBe was definitely an experience!

Very good 8.0
Lovely hotel, very nice rooftop pool, large rooms, nice lounge. The construction is a bit distracting on the rooftop, and could benefit from a few upgrades like cabana beds, but plenty of comfortable lounge chairs. Overall positive recommendation.

Not Ready for Primetime
We have stayed at the old Anglers in years past, with nothing but great memories of the unique multi-story rooms and charm of the small, cozy courtyard where we've enjoyed numerous bottomless-bubbly brunches. Unfortunately much has changed since those days. What used to be a parking lot now houses most of the guest rooms. They're modern, comfy, and about what you'd expect for a mid-level sobe hotel. The problem is that this property isn't ready for primetime just yet: * Restaurant isn't open, so breakfast buffet is crammed into a very small bar area with limited seating * No real other restaurant option unless you want to choose from three daily appetizers on the weekends only. * No bottom-less bubbly or BM anymore * Check in area is very cramped and can take a long time to check in or out * Bartenders and other employees still a bit fuzzy on a lot of details they should have down by now * Entered a maintenance request because air conditioning in room didn't get very cold, that was never followed upon, causing some sweaty nights of little sleep * Major construction project in progress directly across the street (spanning an entire city block) that will be in progress for a long time to come, and now completely blocks the rooftop views from the Anglers given the height of this new structure Overall not a bad experience, but the Anglers has lost it's unique charm it once had, now following more of a standard mid-level sobe recipe but without the refinement.
