Exceptional
We stayed here three different times during our two week holiday in New Zealand. All the staff were amazing. Rooms are awesome. The hotel is in a great location. Can’t wait to stay here again.

Super comfy bed.
The Sofitel at the Viaduct did not disappoint. My husband and I had stayed here about 4 years ago when it had newly opened and the hotel has been well maintained in the interim. Our room had a good view of the harbour, the bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was large with a separate bath and shower. The local area is vibrant and is very good for restaurants and admiring smart yachts!

Excellent Hotel
Great hotel but not cheap. Probably worth it for the location. Go across the piazza opposite the hotel for a great alternative to the hotel restaurant. If you are travelling by car then check with the hotel as long term road works (September 2015) currently make the hotel car park virtually inaccessible. Good, free WiFi and nice staff. Great cold breakfast buffet at a price but worth it.

luxury hotel with budget service
was celebrating my birthday and have indicated it when making online reservation, however hotel did not make any special celebrations and instead treating us with budget level service (ie. got locked out on my birthday day because receptionist didn’t register our 2nd night stay, and hotel claimed that we didn’t inform about our celebrafions). There were also other services that were concerning: waited almost an hour for our breakfast order and only to find out that they were unable to serve hot food when we asked the waiter, didn’t get welcome drinks which was complimentary from our loyalty membership, no heating in the bathroom thus it was really chilly.
