Lovely hotel, would recommend
We stayed at the Royal Scots Club for two nights to visit Edinburgh's Xmas Market. The hotel reception staff were very helpful and friendly and check in was quick and easy. There was a lift up to our room. We stayed in Room 6 which was on the road and had a lovey view of the gardens opposite. Road noise was minimal apart from the refuse truck in the morning. We visited the Xmas market which was very big and most enjoyable and also took a trip to the Royal Yacht Britannia and also Edinburgh Castle. We had a wonderful time and I’ve been raving about our trip since we got back. The only little thing I could fault was when we wanted to order toasted sandwiches and chips at the bar mid-afternoon and were told that they were only doing cold sandwiches or soup as they had been very busy with private functions. They also ran out of Baileys (again we were told it was because they'd had lots of parties) which was a disappointment as my mum and I then had to settle for a coke - not quite the same!

Beautiful but .........
Although this is the most beautiful building my friend and I felt rather uncomfortable and underdressed as there appeared to be a dress code that we were not aware of. The 2 ladies on reception were lovely ladies but not as welcoming as they could have been. This is a military members club and I don’t think suited to a tourist hotel
