Central London stay.
There was a mix up regarding my room & I returned back after a very long day at work to find my room key didn't work due to the fact my bed had been given to another guest with all my belongings still locked in the drawer under the bed which would make you think why wasn't that flagged up. Anyway the nice member of staff did manage to find me another bed in an alternative dorm & after speaking to her manager compensated me for the inconvienance of having to collect, re-pack, re-locate & make a new bed up at 8.30pm. The staff were very ameanable in the circumstance but unfortunately being in a dorm by the night entrance was not a wonderful experience due to constant noise of people coming in & out from 12pm-3pm so I think for future stays I will book elsewhere.

One awkward night at Generator Hostel
It was a reasonable experience however I booked for a female only 4 bed online and was then told on arrival there are no female only 4 bed rooms. They only indicated that be added to 10 or 15 dorminatory. So I ended up choosing the low capacity and and stayed the one night merely because I met 1/3 guys who shared the room with me. He broke the ice and made me feel comfortable - the other 2 was unfriendly. The location of the hotel is perfect if you need to access the London train terminals or underground.

Centrally located fashionable hostel
We stayed at Generator London as a family of 3 for 5 nights. Upon arrival, we were given a room on the 3rd floor, at one end of the building at the end of a long corridor, with about a hundred fire doors to go through to reach. We then asked for a room which was easier to access and nearer to the toilets and showers, and the receptionist was kind enough to give us another room, approximately the same size but at a much better location. All in all, the room was too small to accommodate 3 people, with barely any space to move around, but it was clean and quiet, and the beds were comfortable. As I have often stayed at Generator Stockholm, I somehow expected the same standards concerning the bunk beds, with a separate night lamp and electric outlet by the head of each bed. We were disappointed to see that that was not the case. The toilets and the showers were also clean and not busy, which was great. Breakfast was okay, but it could have been better with a small selection of healthier alternatives (i.e. fibre-rich bread), and the room they served it in was a bit too small. Coffee was not the best, but I guess that's kind of normal in a tea culture. SUMMARY: Great location for an affordable price, clean and safe but you should pick your room wisely and not expect too much. After all, this is a hostel. PS. The interior made a very good impression on our ten-year-old kid. :-)
