If you want to get any sleep, go elsewhere
The first time I stayed here I was in a room across the street, and it must not have been a weekend because I don't remember much noise. The rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable enough. For the price, it seemed like a good deal to be in the centre of town, compared to prices of nearby hotels. However, my second stay I've just returned from was absolutely dire- I stayed in the main building on the first floor, which is right above a bar/club. The whole room and bed was shaking from the vibrations until 3am, the noise was pounding, and even once that had finally stopped the drunk revellers were noisy well after. I got absolutely no sleep until about 6am each night, and to be in bergen on a running/activity holiday it had an impact. I didn't talk to the receptionists about this, but every time I did have contact they were a little cold. Next time I'll fork out a bit more and stay elsewhere, it just was not worth it.

Good place to avoid
I haven't recently paid so much for such a bad place to stay like with P-hotel in Bergen. The way the breakfast was "served" (in a bag hanged on your doors in the morning) looked like a joke! Its quality is simply not worthy of commenting. The hotel is in poor condition, smell of old and worn furniture, floor and walls is strong, suggesting a desperate need for immediate measures for improvement. Rooms have view either on back yard of neighbouring restaurant and its garbage containers, or to a nice, but noisy street because of heavy traffic. By the way, the other side is also noisy, because of the exhaust fans. Bellow is a football pub, a meeting place for football fans, and it is very noisy until late at night. Noise insulation does not seem to exist in the rooms. All in all, I highly recommend avoiding this hotel, not only because of the well under average conditions, but also because of too high price for such a place.

Nice hotel, but horrible breakfast
Pros: this hotel is in a good location, prices are good, staff is very friendly and efficient, rooms are good sized and clean. Careful when you book as some of the room have a shared bathroom - we initially booked one of those by mistake, but then when we checked in the hotel staff offered to upgrade us to a standard bedroom for free! Cons: breakfast is appalling. In the morning you get a bag delivered to your door. The bag contains a ham and cheese sandwich and a bottle of orange-flavoured drink. Definitely the worst breakfast I have ever had. If you are a vegetarian, instead of the ham and cheese sandwich you will get the "P-Hotel Special" which is... A ham and cheese sandwich without the ham! You can buy coffee downstairs for a small charge (I think it was 10 NOK). Personally I was specifically looking for a hotel with breakfast included, since food in Norway is so expensive, so that was disappointing. However there is a supermarket just opposite the hotel so you can make a do.

Clean comfortable and by far the cheapest
Staying in Bergen for business. Great location even though a little noisy depending on the room. However, clean, comfortable with private bathroom and amazing shower. Breakfast is a packed sandwich and a small drink, but for the price you really can't complain
