More fluff over substance
When you enter the hectic foyer of this hotel you feel part of the London vibe but when you enter your room all you feel is claustrophobic. However the rooms size is not the real issue, it’s more the interior design decisions that are more style than function related. While I appreciate the space saving decisions in the room that have allowed the room to have a safe and a fridge, the room does not have an iron but does have a funky radio. There is no functional desk to work at as it’s cluttered with other items, and definitely no space to store your luggage. Although there he bathroom is extremely small, it would be okay if the shower didn’t have poor water pressure and controls that require a licence to drive. The service at this hotel is superb, but lack of function in the rooms makes it more necessary to contact front desk for mini-bar stocking, irons etc. which creates delays in overall responsiveness. This is not a good hotel for a business traveler needing work space, or for prolonged holiday stays in London. Be also aware that the views from the back of the hotel are of an extensive building site and this may well reduce natural light in the room once completed (see photo)

Exceptional 10.0
Enjoyed our stay! Would stay again.
We really enjoyed our stay. The location is great with plenty to do within walking distance and the tube stop is a block up more or less from the hotel, which you can catch the Piccadilly train at to get to the airport. The wifi worked well. The shower was nice and always hot. I appreciated the to-go breakfast they leave at your door every morning. It's the perfect breakfast for me. The woman that checked us in was very pleasant, and the woman that checked us out was fine. Our room was ready even though we arrived before check-in time, which is always nice. The room was clean, and had plenty of space for us though I would recommend a folding luggage rack, as there is not much storage, and a light above the "closet" area would be nice. Overall, a lovely stay.

Poor 2.0
The air conditioning - or more correctly some sort of cold air circulation system - cannot be switched off. The bed was positioned directly under the air vent so that it was subject to a permanent cold draught. Eventually at 3.00am I pulled the bedding off the bed and slept on the floor. The next day I complained and asked either for the air to be switched off - it cant be switched off apparently - or another room. A maintenance engineer altered the direction of the vent, but the cold air persisted. I was advised to set the air conditioning at 24 degrees and leave it on all the time. Not much sleep the second night. By way of apology for the inconvenience I was offered a free drink at the bar and a bottle of water as I checked out, neither of which I accepted. An email after I left offered a preferential rate on my next booking. Needless to say there will not be another booking. It is a beautiful hotel, well finished, modern although very self consciously 'hip'. The one thing it doesn't provide is a decent night's sleep.

Very good 8.0
The staff were great. The cleaning was very good. The daily free water was much appreciated. The daily free little breakfast was good. The room was quite tight, but it was advertised as such. The two little notes left in our room were a nice touch. The one thing we didn't like was that there is no lobby for relaxed seating. The bar area on the main floor was the only seating available, and one had to purchase food or drink to be allowed to sit there. On one occasion I went into "The Apartment" to sit at a table and do some work for an hour. The manager allowed me to do that, but it would have been very nice to have a small room accessible with a table and a few comfortable chairs, that is, actual lobby seating.

Fair 4.0
Bad experience
I had a very bad experience at The Hoxton. I booked and paid 350 pounds in advance for a premium room for a business trip, and asked for a quiet room far away from the elevators as I normally have a light sleep. At first, they gave me a room right beside the elevators. I went back to the lobby to ask for a change and they change it for a smaller room, very close to the elevators as well. So I went down again to ask for what I asked for in the first place. This time they gave me a room far away from the elevators but very tiny (there was not even a cloakroom and the desk was in the corridor). This time I didn’t go down, and had to work at a tiny desk. The good thing is I only paid 350£.
