10/10 Exceptional

Nice and friendly reception team always happy to help. My room had 2 large windows so plenty of light in the room. Property is undergoing a refresh so some of the decor and fittings may appear a tad tired. I think room price and the relaxation areas more than compensate. Even a pool garden to relax in. Easy 10 minute walk to sea front and restaurant and cafe options. I will always have this as my first choice in Torbay.

This hotel provides wonderful amenities The pool is warm and deep enough to swim, just not a full sized pool, and there is a jacuzzie sauna and steam room. In good weather there is a sun lounging garden also available. I loved the keyless door locking system where you just need to key in your personal number. I found the staff to be professionally friendly and happy to help. There is no breakfast provided, but you can get vending services and free ice. The sea front and restaurants and cafes are only a 10 minute walk away. Convenience store less than five minutes the other way with pubs etc nearby. This hotel is undergoing light maintenance at a slow pace. I felt the price paid, and the available amenities more than compensated for other little niggles with perhaps some tired furnishings and paintwork. This is my first choice to stay in Torquay on a budget.

Looks very glamourous in the photo & apart from the fact we got a really large room, that's all that was good about it. There was NO soap or handwash in the bathroom, just a tiny bottle of shampoo & a toilet seat that should have been fixed months ago. There was no key to the room, all electronic & after the initial checking, the staff member disappeared and we never saw another staff member again, even when trying to get someone to adjust the toilet seat - it was quite dangerous if you weren't sure footed. Parking was also very restricted, & as we got a park, we weren't game enough to use the car again, in case there were none available on our return. Very disappointed 😞

Lovely place to stay, reception was very welcoming and the room was very clean. Comfortable beds and a nice size flat screen tv. Provided with shampoos conditioner and shower gel. Also teas and coffee. I will be returning! Thank you for our stay :) Didn’t have breakfast so couldn’t comment on that. Plenty of parking on the outside of the hotel. Free use of sauna jacuzzi and even out door swimming pool with garden. The only thing was there seemed to be no where to get a bottle of water. Very happy with our stay.

2/10 Poor

Cheap, broken, not fit for purpose

Booked for 4 nights, stayed for 2. Staff were scarcely available, lots of broken parts in our room that didnt get fixed or looked at despite us raising with the manager. Radiators that deapite being switched off, kept heating overnight and keeping the room at 30°c. Cold swimming pool and jacuzzi. Overall very disappointed - thought it would be a nice budget hotel but left after 2nights. Would NOT recommend.

Entry to room is by four digit passcode on electronic pads which are loud so you’re woken up all night by noise of people in and out their rooms . Place is unmanned at night ( that’s the reason you can only check in between 3-9) so other guests behave as they want to. Playing loud music in the communal area , drunken couples having arguments . Place is shabby and obviously hasn’t had any money or love put into it for years . Nowhere to hang your clothes . Cheap thin duvets. Exposed live extension leads . Shower makes a terrible noise which must wake the other guests up . The room was very clean however . Potentially beautiful building and gardens but all uncared for and unkempt . Maybe ok for young people for a night out in Torquay but definitely not for business traveller or a someone who wants peaceful stay .

Room was clean but needs upgrading, bathroom configuration very small / restrictive. Didnt use pool or sauna facilities, however games room needs improvement. Cues has no heads and missing pool balls. Hotel.com offered breakfast, however was told no breakfast service at all by staff. Could be a brilliant venue with space and location but needs investment.

The suite was spacious with ample storage for clothing however there was not enough towels in the room. We requested for more towels and extra pillows three times during our stay however this was not provided to us despite the staff promising to bring them to our room. The spa / swimming pool was poor, the jacuzzi didn’t work and the water in the swimming pool and jacuzzi was cold. The stream room was out of order and there was no lockers or towels in the spa area. Would not recommend if your intention is mainly to use the spa facilities.

The hotel was fine, really needs a bit of a renovation - so much potential but very outdated! The walls are paper thin we got woken up by the people next to us and couldn’t sleep for hours. Comfy bed, good location
