Concert stay
Booked a standard room expecting a double or king size bed and got 2 singles which was rather funny. Had tea at the hotel which cost £45 for what I got it wasn't value for money. Overall a nice hotel if you need to stay for the night or 2 but thin walls / not very private and quite expensive meant I wouldn't recommend for a long stay. Perfect for business or the nearby first direct arena.

Fair 4.0
Fake window
I travel for work and stay in numerous hotels. Thought I would try this new hotel as it is close to work. Check in was fine. The guy was very friendly. Upon entering my room I noticed it was tiny. Way too much furniture squeezed into a tiny space. Bed was just over a good from one wall. So small they can only fit one bed side cabinet. The photo below shows the gap between the corner or bed and the wardrobe that you had to squeeze past to get to the side of the bed with more space and the bedside cabinet. There was no milk or tea bags in the room and that wasn't rectified the next day either. The towels were small and threadbare. The bed however was exceptionally comfortable and the furnishings in the room were great. My biggest problem in the room was the fake window. It doesn't look outside it in fact looks into a vestibule area (And other guests window) this is completely unacceptable and feel it was put in the room to get round having to advertise thst the room has no window. Therefore the room had no natural light, in an already cramped room which was very suffocating. Not a great experience at all

Mercure Leeds experience
Service was lovely. Initial room given was disappointing in that no bath n a basement room. Generously upgraded to a first floor room with a bath. However, what made the room odd and uncomfortable was the following : the TV was on a side wall so odd location to view easily. The double bed was two single beds clipped together so the middle of the bed not very comfortable. The pillows on the bed were not comfy either but fortunately there were different pillows available on a shelf in the room. What made our stay a pleasant experience was the convenience of the hotel location so near the city centre, the train station, bus stops, cafe and supermarket and the fantastic service of the hotel receptionist who greeted us and really made the hotel memorable.

Very good 8.0
Hotel is in a good city location yet on a quiet street so best of both worlds. Car parking is at the nearby NCP (about 5 minutes walk) but the hotel give you a discount card. The decor of the hotel is fantastic. Very quirky, boutique hotel style but really well done. The room we stayed in was adequate size but only had one chair so one of us got the chair and the other had to perch on the bed when drinking tea or just chilling out The room hadn't been vacuumed very well so there was talc powder on the floor in the bathroom and clumps of hair on the carpet Check in was 3pm and check out is 12pm. We didn't eat at the hotel (£15.95 for breakfast).

Exceptional 10.0
Great location, well decorated and friendly team
The hotel is easily accessible from the train station, about a 10-minute walk although in the opposite direction of the city centre. The rooms, while not huge are well appointed and clean. The little nods to the hotel's former use is nice. The rooms are well equipped. Ironing board and iron, comfortable beds, tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge. There was a shower in the room I stopped in rather than over a bath. There's not a traditional reception desk as you walk in and it feels friendly and informal. I didn't use the restaurant or room service for dinner but the prices seemed reasonable. Breakfast seems a little pricey at £15.95 per person though
