8/10 Very good

It’s a good budget hotel. Not recommended for long stays as it’s more to have somewhere to sleep at night.

Good value honest hotel

Parking is a bit of a miss but I see works going on so that might be improved. Other than that, hotel is very honest. Dont expect luxury and you will be satisfied

Only stay as a last resort.

It was cheap, but, the duvet had a large bloodstain on it. The pillow cases were dirty. There were no curtains in the bathroom so people could technically see into the shower.

Pictures are very deceiving, the rooms are too small, no room to swing a cat, unclean, our particular room had the window broken, the shower was disgusting, had hair from previous guests, I was bitten, would not stay here again, you get less than you pay for

Weekend ruined

booked to stay here on 20/10/2016 so my friend and I had a place to stay while seeing Kings of Leon once Newcastle. Upon arrival the reception had no reservation for us and then after looking at my booking confirmation told us that in the time after our reservation had been made the hotel had changed management. I had received no correspondence from with hotels.com or the hotel itself to make me aware of this change and that our reservation was now void. Leaving us with nowhere to stay and no extra money. Absolutely ruined our entire weekend up Newcastle and both parties showed how much they valued customers

Stay far away

When I entered the hotel to check in, the first thing I noticed was the smell of paint. "Yes, we are renovating," said the clerk and asked me for a 10 pound deposit for the key card. I went up to my room. It was a small room and I could smell the paint from there. I went to use the facilities and suddenly, the fire alarm went off! I jumped up and ran downstairs to the lobby. "Oh, don't worry, we are doing a fire drill!" said the clerk. I went back upstairs and every few minutes the alarm went off. My sensory issues went into overload. I checked out and booked into the Holiday Express instead. They refuse to give me a refund , keep on saying manager isnt there when i call.

Was in room 4, smelled of smoke, no heating in the bathroom and lighting in bathroom very poor. Leaking hose on electrical shower. Very basic room. Glad I was simply in and out over the weekend.

Ok for price

Overall the stay was ok. There was something spilt in the bathroom which wasn’t cleaned up, and I had to ask for towels. Rooms not in as good condition as photos look but for price not bad.

Excellent, very comfortable, quiet and relaxing

Very nice hotel, cannot hear any noise from other rooms, traffic etc. Had a very peaceful stay. Staff are very polite, friendly and accommodating. Excellent value for cost, would definitely stay here again and it is way better than the 2 stars rating. Many Thanks!

Halloween

When we first arrived the electricity had gone down, I know this isn’t the hotels fault! However we couldn’t get a room key, and my and friend has separate rooms! We had to stay in the one room for an hour whilst we waited for our keys to be made, making us later to our evening. If they could have phoned their guests due to arrive and pre warn them it would have been an advantage as we could have waited to check in. The rooms where as what’s they were advertised in the photos, had a sink half a foot from the head of the bed with a low ceiling right above, accident waiting to happen! The shared bathrooms were absolutely appalling, they were leaking water from the toilet constantly, no tissues or bin in bathroom, the showers looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for a while so massively avoided! There was no real comfort to this hotel, including bed rooms staff or the layout! I know that’s nothing to do with the staff or management but changing the carpets on stairs could help as it’s truly awkward to look at and a massive hazard! More of a hostel and doss house than what is advertised!

Filthy and noisy

Was greeted by a gentleman who was very impolite and not helpful at all. The room was what you would expect for the price paid but the cleanliness was terrible. Dirt on the floor and walls. The shower had soap left in there from previous guest and was covered in hair. The cover over the drain was clogged with hair so I had to clean this myself. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything happening from all over the place. Was kept awake until 3am Saturday night by screaming, shouting, slamming of doors. I will never book this place again. Would not recommend this place to anyone accept contractors.

Terrible

Absolutely poor! Got to the hotel after nearly 6 hr drive from London to be greeted by unprofessional service at reception by Ali! He tells us with no apology that they have cancelled our booking on the afternoon of our arrival and that they have sent us an email which we never received! We was outraged by this! asked to speak to the manager and was told that he has finished early, asked for the managers name and was told that it was Ali..! Asked for the person's name who we were speaking to and he also said its Ali..! We were kept getting cold answers! We didn't believe that his name was Ali and as we asked again for his name and it was at this point where "Ali" started getting sarcastic! We said there is no need for this behaviour and if he carrys on then we will record him...! This is the point where the receptionist got abusive and came around the desk aggressively and try to hit me!! We have the whole incident on video and will take it further! Hotel.com should not affiliated with such establishment. We came for a little weekend getaway and it was all ruined by abusive staff at the hotel as well as time wasted by trying to book an alternative accommodation

6/10 Good

Room for improvement

Super 19th c. mansion converted into a hotel. Not quite B&B - more like just B&tea/coffee in room. Really needs upgraded of carpet and upholstery and furnishings. Stains on bed throw (tea?), etc., really not challenging to get right. Needs some serious TLC and could be really nice. But does the job for a one-night quick sleep, even if pricey for that purpose. Staff very friendly, but there’s only so much that can do for the place.
