    A very tired hotel

    The stay was average, the service on arrival was great and we were made to feel very welcome. This is a very basic budget hotel, cleaning was not up to the usual standard, we found a pair of kids socks under our bed in the room which clearly shows this was overlooked. The breakfast was below standard, the coffee was lukewarm verging on cold. The apple juice was cloudy and had a fizz taste to it and by no way fresh. Checkout was pretty straightforward, I mentioned the cleaning oversight by which I was advised this would be taken up with Housekeeping. This won't be a hotel I rush back to. It's a very tired feeling and looking hotel, in desperate need of a facelift.

    Holiday inn Washington Newcastle

    Excellent hotel which was fantastic value for money. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of well lit parking with easy access from front or rear car parks. Breakfast was good with great selection of cooked and cold food. The first two mornings at breakfast was quite relaxed but on the Wednesday really rushed with everything cleared by 9.30. Can’t really complain as the dinning room was supposed to close at 9.30. but good to know if you book the 9.00 slot for breakfast. This hotel is in a great location with easy access to restaurants in the local area, Toby carvery next door but book well in advance as really popular. A couple of Wetherspoons within 3 minute drive for cheap dinning. We didn’t use the hotel restaurant as a bit pricy but looked ok with reasonable menu. Would definitely use this hotel again if in the area.
