Nice stay, shame about the food
We stayed here as we were attending an event at the Lowry theatre. The hotel was in a great location and the staff on the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was basic but clean, however the double bed was somewhat on the small side. When we got back to the hotel after the event (which was around 11:45 pm) I rang down to order some food but was told that I had to come down and order from the bar. I went down to the bar area and ordered a chicken burger and chips, which I then brought back up to my room. The burger was literally a piece of rubbery microwaved chicken on a bun with some half cooked anaemia looking chips. I ate this as I was so hungry and there wasn't anywhere in the vicinity that I knew of that I could get food at that time, but I was extremely disappointed with what I had received. This was at a cost to me of £11.95. I feel that if the hotel cannot offer food of a certain standard at that time of the evening, it should not not be offered at all. The room through the night was extremely warm and at one point I had to turn the air conditioning on, however this proved too noisy to sleep and was therefore switched off after about half an hour. All in all we had a nice stay at this hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful, however certain elements let it down slightly, i.e. the bar food and the noisy air conditioning. Ps the breakfast buffet was nice, but could benefited from having a little more variety

Poor 2.0
I was disappointed overall, having stayed at a number of budget hotels in the past and also at Holiday Inns, this was definitely under par. When I entered my room, up until I went out at around 19:30hrs, there was incessant drilling and banging. I contacted Reception and was told they were "making the hotel better", but apparently this was just the offices on the ground floor, so I'm not sure why I had to put up with it sounding like it was next door on the 2nd floor! I felt the person on Reception was very dismissive of my complaint and therefore didn't bother reporting all the other issues I encountered and are listed here. There was a pool of water on the bathroom floor that didn't go away the two days I was there - I'm not sure where it came from. The controls panel in the shower was hanging off, I had a luke warm shower the first morning despite turning it to the highest setting, the desk lamp was faulty and the battery panel was missing from the TV remote. The breakfast was very limited and some items were not replaced quickly enough, reducing the choice even more. Too many tables were unavailable because they hadn't been cleared. The bed was comfortable and the bar staff were very friendly, with a shout out to Chloe, who kept us entertained with her aversion to ghosts (long story!). I won't be staying here again.

Good hotel but lacking a little in the maintenance area! We were kept awake on the 1st night by a banging from outside the room, we thought it was pipes. Turned out to be a light above the stairwell door trying to start,I turned the tube slightly to silence it, advised reception when I told them about the water leak from the connection between the shower head and the hose, was told that the maintenance person was not around. No improvement for the second night but at least the banging was not there to keep us awake. The reception person was apologetic when we checked out and waived some charges on the bill by way of compensating us for the problems. This would not stop us from booking the hotel again ,but the management really need to keep on top of the small items before they impact on bookings.{room 603}

Exceptional 10.0
Wonderful! Over and above my expectations
I have never stayed in a Holiday Inn, let alone an Express, however my partner and i were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, airy and the bed was HUGE! Ideally located near media city and just a short walk to the nearest tram stop. BREAKFAST well, they had a toaster as well as one of those silly rotation machines :) there was a lovely selection of breads, cereals, pastries, cereal and freshly squeezed orange juice as well as the hot food of sausages, scrambled eggs etc. I have paid a lot more in 4* hotels for breakfast and i was essentially blown away by how good the food was here. Eating your breakfast on a cold crisp sunny winter morning whilst watching rowers and swans on the water just outside the hotel was lovely. The staff here couldn't be more helpful and they were really smiley and engaging.

Good value for money
Stayed for one night while attending an event at the Lowry, which is only a pleasant five to ten minute walk away. We were very impressed with the hotel for the cost; yes the room is a little on the small size but perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. We had a quiet room with a nice view over the water. All the staff were very friendly. Comfy bed with choice of pillows which was nice. Good shower. Like the fact that they supply nice big towels, not ones that would only fit round a small child as some places do. Good that the hairdryer is close to the mirror and there are plenty of spare sockets (again in some places I've stayed this hasn't been thought through!) Free wifi appreciated. Breakfast was good although when we got there at 9 am some things had run out which weren't replenished, and it wasn't very hot, but otherwise good choice of food, again with pleasant service. Thought the drinks in the bar a bit expensive (£12+ for a pint and a glass of wine) though. All in all would definitely stay again when visiting the area.
