Central situation.
Very central situation - could not be better. Given a large room opposite reception overlooking Broad Street. Quiet, but I can imagine in the summer could be noisy. Steep narrow staircase to reception and then on to other rooms - may not suit some travellers. Friendly staff. Try cafes in the covered market (5 mins away) for breakfast.

Central = Noisy at night
Very central as I'm not able to walk vast distances these days and this makes it a VERY noisy location at night - partying students and bagpipe playing at 1am! - and upstairs guest seemed to be moving furniture at that time too ... sigh ... Discovered by chance that a lot of stairs were involved staying here but rang the week before and was moved to a first floor room, phew!! Room was comfortable and had nice coffee/tea facilities but bathroom is very tired and in need of some good grout cleaning product! Floor tiles cracked and door handle hanging by a thread!! Cleanliness was ok but not startling, found a bit of plastic just under bed so vacuuming not overly thorough! Grandsons bed sofa was very comfortable, thank you!

Great hotel a d helpful staff
My only problem was with the stairs. They were difficult for me with arthritis in the knees at the top of the staircase with nothing to hold onto. However i managed and all staff were very helpful at all times.

Situated above shops in the Broad
The hotel is very comfortable but to be recommended to pedestrians because of its location in the Broad. As it is situated above shops there is a staircase leading to reception and then a tangle of further staircases to reach the third floor room with a view over the backs of the buildings in Ship Street. The tower of Coll Exon was just visible. No bathtub but an effective shower. The staff kindly looked after my luggage after I had checked out, and I returned to collect it before my train left.

Quaint central Oxford hotel.
Very central Oxford location, comfortable rooms, helpful staff and reasonable cost. On the negative side are the rather steep and narrow stairs and absence of any lift, even for luggage. Not recommended for older guests.........

Fair 4.0
This is not a four star hotel , very noisy and basic.

Perfect location. Very welcoming staff. Room was very dated though and is in desperate need of a refurb. Shower was like standing under a leaking tap. Tiny wonky wardrobe made us smile at its quantness! All clean though.

Poor 2.0
worst hotel experience ever
I am very disappointed with the hotel and will never book again. The soundproof was so poor that we can hear every single noice that people made when walking upstairs and through the corridor throughout the night. The duvet provided was so thick that we ended up with using the blanket and felt so uncomfortable and itchy. I am usually a heavy sleeper but unfortunately got a very bad sleep that night. The room is very tiny andonly allows a double bed. The only good point is the perfect location that the owner obviously will never worry about new bookings, however, just for myself it is definitely the worst hotel experience I had ever.
