Terrible condition & Outdated decor Shabby Room
The air conditioner in the room was not working, and the controls on the thermostat are fixed so you can't adjust to an optimum temperature. As the night went on the heat kept going up and the room for incredibly hot, we couldn't sleep. And we couldn't open the windows as they are sealed for safety reasons. By morning time. I was throwing up due to the high heat in the room and no circulation. When we reported this to reception, she casually said, " Oh did the heating kept going up even though you were turning it down on the thermostat? , Yes it does that because it's broken, and we are waiting for it to be fixed". Not sure if it was the problem in the hotel or just our room. The next morning the lifts were broken and had to use the stairs from the 4th floor carrying our luggage. The carpets are worn and the place could do with a spruce up in the room. Such a shame about this, the location is perfect, but for this kind of service, i shall be looking at other nearby hotels that have got great maintenance and service, the next time I visit the area. This hotel is definitely overrated. Huge disappointment for us.

nice area, rude staff
location is good, i like the area in russell square as one of my classmate stayed here long time ago. the room is okay but just the sound insulation is not being satisfied and the pressure of the shower is a bit low. However, nightmare began on the first of my five nights staying. The room was stuffy and didn't know why until my mother in the next room claimed that her room is comfy with a nice temperature. we then went down to the reception the next morning and asked for checking out the air con. However, the lady was a bit rude and seems she thought we didnt know how to turn on the air con? she claimed that she would find someone to check on it but sadly we found out she didnt when we went back at late night. we then went to reception again and met the gentleman which helped us to check in and he immediately helped us to tell the manager and surprisingly the manager can just help us to fix it inside the control room at once and it seems we experienced quite differently with the staff in the morning. thank you for the gentleman but I encourage hotel to train your staff to be helpful and polite to guests. I will give this hotel another try as I like the area much, hopefully next time will be a nice stay!

Comfortable stay in Excellent location
We arrived on a damp day and were very kindly allocated our room early. However it felt damp and cold and the rain was belting down outside the window. After following instruction regarding heating - nothing happened. After quite some time we enquired re the heating and were told by a male member of staff to turn on the AC unit and it would blow out warm air (even though it states clearly it is for cool air only) - after several hours of feeling miserable my wife contacted reception and asked how we could warm the room. The receptionist was honest and said the heating was not on anywhere in the hotel. When asked if it would be on later in the evening - we were told they would send up a radiator without delay. And they did - problem solved, but we had spent from 12 noon to 4 o'clock getting colder by the minute and as a result we missed out on an afternoon of sightseeing. That said, the rest of the stay was very satisfactory and after the room was aired with the radiator - it did not need to be warmed up again. Hotel clean, room and bathroom very clean. Room service very good. Easy access to Covent Garden, Royal Opera House and the Masonic Temple (for those who are interested in a tour or the current exhibition - which is excellent). The Holiday Inn is up a side street just off the main bus route and 3 stops away from Kings Cross. St Pancras is within walking distance for easy access by train to Gatwick airport or the main sites. Passing buses serve the main sites

Lively location and good for a business stay
Chose this hotel for a business stay when my usual one was so,d out. The hotel has an excellent location and is close to many shops, restaurants, and a number of attractions. the room I was assigned was spacious and comfortable (although a colleague was initially assigned a disabled room with blinking lights that stayed on all night, then moved to a room with a very tiny bathroom). However, the bar was very off-putting with drunken occupants in the early evening. In addition, the hotel has no gym. There is one right outside the door, but you have to join for a month and can only do that if you have a U.K. Bank account. The hotel has an arrangement with a gym a couple of blocks away for a reduced daily rate (10 pounds instead of 15) But there are many hoops to jump through to sign up every day and a towel costs another 2.50 - in the end I just found some running routes outside. Finally, when I got home I discovered that some US dollars had been taken from my wallet and I'm almost positive that happened in the hotel - my bad for not putting the wallet in the safe, and i can't prove anything of course, but left a bad taste in my mouth.

Conveniently located, pleasant staff, comfortable
Holiday Inn London - Bloomsbury Hotel is the first stop we arrived London. Have been to London for a couple of years and this was the first time we lodged into this one located near Russel Square. Arrived late night and good sleep was essential to deal with our jet lag. So, two nights on a roll. The hotel is very conveniently located and just a few minute walks from the station. We booked a superior room (a bigger one) for a premium, as we understood most of the hotel rooms in London were comparatively small (tiny). This one is a bit bigger, with bathtub, quiet environment (at the end of the courier) and a good window view. Clean room and nice staff. They offer breakfast for slightly over £11. Sorry we just have a secret place for our breakfast. Hmm, very sad we did have a chance to walk around the neighbourhood. Sure a good choice. Honestly a bit over bugdet, will look out for a discounted offer next time we pay it our visit.
