Very good 8.0
This was an interesting hotel. My room had a glass floor so you could see the old street below. It is in a pretty dirty alley, but after a few days in Rome, I realized every street is pretty dirty. The location near the Vatican makes it great to walk there and a few other of the "big" sites. I was on the first floor and the noise from the breakfast bar was awful in the morning. Aside from that it was pretty good.

Fair 4.0
I travel a lot and I am understanding and forgiving of the occasional hiccups by hotels and their staffs. Several things were off-putting by this property. I was traveling with family and had booked two rooms but they could not seem to figure out the correct number of individuals staying in each room which led to amenities not being stocked and a storage of towels. My bed collapsed in the middle one night while I was sleeping, but was able to fix quickly without calling the staff. A bit annoying though. I had gone for drinks with friends and came back to the property to discover the gate was locked. I had to call the staff three times to get answer and for them to let me in - turns out he was sleeping. It wasn’t that late either. The other complaint I have is that we ordered some wine at the bar and the staff broke the Cork opening the bottle, leaving particles all in the wine but still serving it. I complained to the bar manager and he admitted he didn’t drink, but also said that he didn’t know how to open a bottle of wine. Long story short, I ended up doing myself. On the plus side - beautiful property, clean rooms, friendly staff (not overly helpful, but friendly!) Overall, will not be staying here again.

Liked the staff and attentive service. Dislike the access from front street. Very unwelcoming at nighttime and scary. Not clean, papers soiled with human feces in stairs outside alley and lots of debris. It was also dark and we arrived past monigote which was scary! You should have a bell in front Street ti assist guests with luggage.

Exceptional 10.0
Beautiful hotel near Vatican City
Room 401 - that is really all that needs to be said! We stayed for 2 nights (Friday and Saturday) The hotel was immaculate and the rooms were beautiful (we had a sneak peak at other rooms as we read that they had been renovated and wanted a nose!). We had room 401 which overlooked the river and a small basillica. We could also see the top of the Vatican City from our room window. The balcony was great too - we treated ourselves to a bottle of wine on the Saturday night and watched the sun set over the river, basillica and city centre. Even the view from out bathroom was great - traditional houses and apartments, gardens and greenery. Location wise, we usually opt for a "Hop on Hop off" bus but I would advise against this - they're infrequent and it's around a 7 min walk to the hotel. The buses are just outside the hotel, regular (and on time!), and are 1.50 Euros for 100 minutes worth of travel. The hotel may seem "out of the centre" but you're there within 10 minutes by bus or a 20-40 minute walk depending on where you're headed. The centre was far too busy, and if I were to return to Rome, I'd stay at Hotel La Rovere again in a heartbeat. Safe, clean, and comfy! Thank you so much again

Great location and nice room
We had a nice experience at this hotel. The location is great a few blocks from the Vatican. It was easy to walk to all the sights. There is also a bus that stops very close by to the train station. The hotel was clean and nice looking inside and the rooms were the same. We had an issue where the floor of our room which is a wall to wall plastic mat type surface was wet and the room smelled like wet carpet when we arrived. I told they staff and we left to go check out some sights. When we returned it was dry and the room smelled better. Thanks to the staff for being responsive but I can give 5 stars for this reason. The breakfast was nice with lots of fresh fruit available and a coffee drink of your choice. The staff was friendly and provided some visit planning info when we arrived. I'd consider staying here again.
