Little gem in busy market town

Real 'down to earth' locals pub - lovely double room (single occupancy) overlooking main street - one of the best I've stayed in. Room only basis but I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Great location,room was lovely and clean but access to the ensuit across a corridor not expected although again very clean ,unfortunately no catering available at this hotel although staff were very helpful in advising on realy good local cafes and restaurants, in general very good value for money.

The windows rattled all through the night, constantly waking us up. The shower room had no towel hooks, the sink plug did not work and the shower door was so awkwardly placed it was difficult to access the shower. This meant that the door dripped water onto the shower mat. The toilet roll holder was broken and there was no shelf on the shower to place the shower gel and shampoo. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which was nice.

The building is approaching a few hundred years old, so expect stairs etc. We stayed here while we were in the UK for a family wedding, the rooms were clean and tidy with individual bathrooms, no complaints. We did not go into the bar. The staff were next level in their warmth, helpfulness and friendliness. They went above and beyond to help us out and it was much appreciated.

A really nice room for the money

For the price I paid this room was fantastic. Well equipped, very clean, nicely decorated and recently renovated by the look of it. The shower was really powerful which was nice. I managed to find a free parking spot just on the opposite side of the road too.

On arrival the radiator wasnt working so the lovely host moved rooms and couldnt do enough to make sure i was ok. Then threw in a couple of free beers. The staff working literally couldnt do enough to help

Good atmosphere downstairs, very poor upstairs.

We arrived to find there was cobwebs on the walls, no toilet roll holder, UHT milk 2 months out of date, slime coming out of the shower head, waste bin still had rubbish in from previous clients, radiator pipes covering falling off, ceiling light full of flies etc.

Shower fungus

The shower head was growing some kind of mould/fungus. Really gross. General cleanliness was pretty poor. And loud music until midnight on Saturday meant there was no possibility of sleeping before then.
