Perfect for what I needed...
Some may call it boutique, I just think that word can be an excuse to have a collection of old things that don't match. There felt a mix of old and new, plug sockets and air con that were dated but worked fine in a large room with funky bedside lights and a rustic wardrobe?! Overall the place was lovely, right next door to a very popular pub, room was massive with windows that blocked any outside noise, comfy bed, good shower, lovely breakfast (full English with continental and loads of fruit, bagels, cereals, etc.). A safe in the room as well as a fridge for in room purchases but with enough space for the complimentary water. This was a last minute choice due to train cancelations but it was perfect for what I needed... 5 min stroll to marble arch too.

Barely above average
Adequate hotel with decent customer service. Overpriced, even taking into consideration its locality, and with slight delusions of grandeur. Clean enough although the fixtures and fittings are tired and mediocre. Breakfast modest.

Compact Quality
I booked a weekend in London with my wife for our wedding anniversary and wanted a hotel that was a little more personal. The Sumner Hotel was perfect, as my wife said, it's an "upmarket B&B". This is meant in a complimentary way, as the hotel does not possess a restaurant or bar, but it does have a very compact breakfast room that somehow manages to give a massive choice of foods for breakfast, with very friendly and attentive staff. The hotel room was spacious and spotless and while we breakfasted in the morning the room was cleaned, tidied and serviced! The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Lastly it is positioned just 5 mins from Marble Arch, so is very central to the City, but on a back street so isn't too noisy. We will definitely be recommending this hotel, and will be returning at some stage.

Sumner Hotel
I spent two nights at the Sumner hotel on business. I was given a very warm and friendly welcome at this boutique hotel. The room was very large for London and had a super king bed. The room was clean and it had a very good shower. The breakfast was excellent with that home cooked, not mass produced flavour of the Eggs, bacon and sausage. But there was plenty of choice and it was very fresh and very tasty. Overall really enjoyed my stay at the Sumner, and it is in an ideal location for Oxford Street.

Good comfortable hotel, although would not class as 4star and also mis advertised on their website as statea it has a bar which it why I chose but it does not only a lounge and mini bar in room, which is clearly not the same. Plus pout continental breakfast was lovely great choice and tasty fresh fruit.
