Tiny, hot room in the heart of London.
We chose a "triple" room for about $110 a night. The room was in a basement, with a window that opened to a weird little concrete, uncovered area. There was no air conditioning, and despite the nice, mounted oscillating fan, it was very hot for us. While the room did have 3 clean, comfortable twin beds, it was so small and claustrophobic. The bathroom had a toilet, shower, and very small sink, but it was smaller than the kind of bathroom you'd have in your room on a cruise ship. Tiny! And no counter space at all. Very difficult to work in. We arrived at the hotel at about 2:15, exhausted, and very hungry after the long 2-flight trip to London and long, hot taxi ride to the hotel. Check-in was at 3:00, and the room was not ready early. The front desk attendant steered us, nicely, to a restaurant that served our preference of foods. When we returned after a full lunch to find that our room was still not ready, it was a serious bummer. They asked us to wait in the lobby. The room was finally ready at 3:38. I've just never had to wait past check-in time for a hotel room...ever. When I complained and asked to possibly be compensated by having them throw in their $5 breakfast for the three of us, we were told that that attendant wasn't management, and wasn't allowed to make that kind of decision. We did appreciate that the next time we saw someone at the desk and mentioned it again, the attendant had heard about the request and told us that would be fine.

More Hostile Than a Hostel
Arrival was fine. We have stayed here before, and it was decent. The room we got this time looked absolutely nothing like the one pictured; more like a youth hostel with two single beds, and that was an "upgrade" from the one I had booked. The brothers who run the place are pleasant and accommodating, and helped us to understand how to use public transport to get to our points of interest. There is another gentleman who works there who clearly does not understand the concept of "hospitality". After saying "Yes, please" about a million times (I think he meant "can I help you or something) he berated us for not calling first before coming down for breakfast--a real dressing down in a nasty, sarcastic tone. We were literally sent back to our room like scolded children. When we finally did get to breakfast, the servers were like a Polish Gestapo. With no regard to guests sitting next to the storage area, the attendants tossed silverware loudly into the drawer, jangling nerves. Server got one order wrong then gave guest a nasty look. I should add that during our two night stay, there was no hand soap in the dispenser, and it was not refilled on the second day.

Friendly staff, bad accommodation.
If I had been paying 60 pounds a night for this room I would have been content... in London that's about what I would expect to pay if I had to walk down the corridor to use the toilet, the room walls were damaged by damp, and the bed was so narrow it looked like it was straight out of a military barracks. The view from the window: a tiny below street-level yard in which rubbish bags are placed... Unfortunately though I was paying over 140 pounds a night and expecting a three star hotel... so this was a real shock. I spend more than a quarter of my year living in hotels and this is the worst place I have stayed in the past couple of years. I have no idea how they got a three star rating. The staff were actually very good- but the hotel was full, and so, in spite of protesting, I was stuck in what I guess was one of their worst rooms for two nights. (Or maybe not... they did offer to change me to another room, but made pretty clear it was even worse!!) A more minor point would be that the cooked breakfast options were very limited...toast, beans, eggs, sausage and bacon... where are the mushrooms? Tomatoes? Hash browns? They gave me a free breakfast after I put on Expedia that I was unhappy with check-in. Sorry but that is nothing like satisfactory. I'd have far rather you offered me a refund and let me find somewhere satisfactory to stay. All the other guests I saw seemed to be from outside the U.K. which maybe explains the feedback rating on here...

Bad experience at the end
We had a family stay there for 2 nights and the service is not bad and not great. Toilet is a bit small but still acceptable. But after we checked out, the strange things happened. I hired the hotel arranged private car to Airport and on my way to Airport. Hotel call me up and said I have stolen their Drain Cover , Break the shower Door and they also missed a coffee plate then asked me for 20 Pound compensation. I am the last one using the shower and I am sure the shower door is ok when we leave and who will toke away the drain cover as a traveller? I said the room is same as what I have checked in and he replied that we are dishonest. The worst is when we arrived Airport the driver they arranged hold top our luggage and asked for 20 pound to release. They only release the luggage when I asked to call the police to help. And Hotel threaten me that they will claim it from my credit card !!!!! I suspected this is a planned trap. Not recommended to stay or use their Airport transfer service.

Convenient Location and Good Service
The room have all the basic things that we need. I especially like the electric pot for hot water, for tea and coffee because I drink hot tea in the morning and before going to bed. Strong Wi-fi and a lot of electrical outlet. The English breakfast was very good. My daughter and I enjoyed it. Our room was in the basement. The occupants of the room above us was noisy and we heard their steps and loud stomping even after midnight. The room is also next to the kitchen so it also gets loud during early breakfast time when we want to sleep in. We only stayed here 2 nights, thankfully. If you are a light sleeper, just make sure that your reserved room will not be in the basement and next to the kitchen, otherwise, you will not get any sleep. Just take note that the hotel does not have an elevator and you will take the stairs with your baggage. We like the very convenient location. The staff are helpful.
