The hotel was a reasonable price for what you get and the place was very clean. It is close to the train station but it can be a bit of a trek to the major sites. The girls who work at the front desk were very friendly. However, the man at the front desk is a liar, very miserable and illogical to deal with. I mentioned to him that I think someone is smoking because I can smell smoke in my room and he said no. I found cigarettes in the shared bathroom toilette and him smoking in the stairwell. I also paid for a private bathroom and he gave me a room without a toilette, claiming that the rooms with toilettes are out of order; and that there are no rooms with a private bathroom. He refused to give me a room with a private bathroom or reduce the price to the shared bathroom cost. Telling me I already am paying so little that this hotel room is worth so much more. And told me to go to another hotel if I want. Then days later he says the people who have the private bathroom checked out if I want to move. I declined and thought it best to limit interaction with this miserable liar. I was also going to add an additional night to my stay as my room was available for the next night and he wanted me to pay some ridiculous amount of money. I checked where I booked through and it was the same I paid per night and asked if he would honor it. He said no. He made zero sense.

Convenient but SMALL
The location is excellent and with the exception of a bus to the Vatican, we walked everywhere from our hotel. The place was very clean and the check in experience was exceptional. He gave us great tips and really wanted to ensure we had a great experience and ate non-tourist trap food. I'd booked a double with shared bathroom but was upgraded to a double with bathroom inside which was great. The place was very clean but OH SO TINY (think smaller than a dorm room). We had two twin beds but you couldn't move past each other without squishing to the side or climbing over a bed. The shower and bathroom was also very small. Considering we were in Rome and spent most of the day exploring, it was fine to just stay there to sleep but really, it's extremely small and even more inconvenient if you're traveling with someone you don't want to change in front of. Towels were changed, beds were made, and shower was cleaned everyday which was great. For the price and location, I'd still recommend.

A brilliant find
The Hotel Texas is an excellent place to stay, especially for those with a limited budget. It is located very close indeed to the main train station, which is convenient as it means you don't have to drag suitcases across the city when you check in. It is also conveniently situated near to a subway station, and the 'Via Nazionale' street with excellent eateries such as the 'Doveralù Cafe' and a simply top-notch gelateria. However, there is quite a walk to the main sites of Rome from it. The Pantheon and Colosseum are both 20+ minute walks away, for example. The staff we met were warm and had interesting suggestions of places to visit. For a small additional cost, a pleasing Italian-style breakfast is also provided. Whilst the room itself was not particularly big, it did provide a desk, cupboard and ultimately enough space. I would not recommend opting for an ensuite however: the ensuite bathroom was cramped, without a lock and the shower (whose boundary of which was frustratingly the entire room) did not seem to have hot water, at least at night.

Cold room and cold water
Very basic, which I am usually okay with if I am warm and have hot water for a shower. The heat is on from 6pm to 10pm and from 6am to 10am. Other then that it is very cold in the room and it takes about an hour fpor the heat to warm up the room so 6 hours a day you get heat. The hot water shower is hot but it is a trickle. If you add cold water to make it come out better then pit is not even war. It said that I got a moinibar, I always assume that means in my room but no evidence of that. One other thing, I could hear the guy snoring next door and the sad thing is he was not snoring loudly.

Hotel near the city center
This hotel has a nice location and the location is pretty clean and doable but no more than about three days. Be aware of shared bathrooms versus private ones that are in the bedroom. Different charges for both. Check in is after 12 noon and beware of the angsty manager: just a guy doing this job for 25 years who is a bit close-minded/ bitterly prejudice about the dynamics of the world. The bus system is easy to us and of course look out for pickpockets but it honestly is not overt, not any more than someone who lives in the city anyway. Just stay alert and hold your items tight to your person and you will be fine.
