attending a mature birthday party
An 80th birthday celebration for a good friend.50people attended. Venue we rated although the set menu was rather ordinary. A good hotel.

A great place
A great place, would stay again, breakfast was messed up but didn’t seem in keeping with the hotel! Good parking which is otherwise difficult in Cambridge and under £8 for a cab in :)

Elegant Oasis of Tranqulity
I was staying on business and have stayed in various establishments in the Cambridge area, the Hotel Felix was a real find and will definitely be the first place I check when returning.

Hotel Felix dream old house but not so nice modern
Staff were absolutely amazing at the Hotel Felix, kind, considerate and extremely attentive. Unfortunately the pictures of the hotel Felix on UK.hotels.compare are misleading, they show only the old beautiful part built in the 1800's, with big rooms, high ceilings and large sach windows. That's what I presumed I would be getting when the normal price was £240 reduced to £148 special offer per night. But the room I got was in a not so modern part built onto the old house. The room was clean but no air conditioning and in the recent heat wave it proved extremely difficult with my 7 month old son. Like I said the staff were extremely attentive which helped. So buyer beware do not go by the pictures they are mislrading. Would I stay at the Hotel Felix again, yes but I would have to spend an awful lot more money to stay in the old part and that is where I would only stay. Saying this the garden and outside area is a little gem, which is where we spent most of our time. Big thank you to Stell, Andy and the breakfast staff!

Niggles, but we enjoyed our stay
Spacious bedrooms, attractive building and grounds, and in a quiet location on the outskirts of Cambridge close to a bus route. The public rooms and corridors display contemporary art but whether you find this tasteful depends – er – on your taste. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evenings. We had food in the room one evening which was good., but we had mixed experiences with breakfast. A selection of cold buffet items, although not as extensive as you might expect from 4 stars, with a choice of hot dishes cooked to order. The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were delicious; the full English less so. Bacon, sausage and black pudding all slightly dry and unappetising. The first morning we had to move to a different table. We started at one near the swing door into the kitchen. Every time it was used it squeaked noisily. Instead, we sat by an arch into a corridor. The arch had been decorated with tree branches and hydrangeas, but most were now dead. Through the arch, a conference was being set up, and we had to listen to the girls comparing Facebook notes. All in all, though, we enjoyed our stay, and the breakfast comments are niggles rather than serious complaints.
