Exceptional 10.0
Quirky modern vibe hotel in Madrid.
7 Isla was a pretty nice hotel with modern design. The room was quirky and comfortable. Bathroom was clean and the amenities provided were pretty good. The place is within walking distance to most tourist areas but not that close to the Madrid Main Train Station. The hotel staff were helpful. My husband enquired whether it would be possible to get the Copa Del Rey tickets and the staff assisted in getting more info (in the end, we didn't get the tickets because the seat was pretty far). Overall, a nice place to stay in Madrid.

Used to be great, seems to be slipping
I've stayed at this hotel many, many times as it can be rather nice and is well situated. I think it will probably be my final booking, as I think it's rather strange that they don't make the kind of effort with repeat customers that many hotels do. My room was basic, the shower screen was pretty dirty at the base and the breakfast (which really is not worth paying for) was extremely poor. The choice is really what you would expect in a 1 or 2 star hotel. The hot food in particular was deeply unappetising, with scrammbled eggs that were actually rather grey and bacon that was swimming in a huge amount of grease. I've had some great experiences here in the past, but it feels like more care and attention is needed for the overall guest experience.

Very good 8.0
Quirky but could be quieter
Loved the quirky design and very attentive staff although for some completely unknown reason they couldn't confirm whether breakfast was included initially. Very very expensive at the time I stayed. Ludicrously so. But apparently due to big conference in town causing a demand surge. For a high quality hotel and at that room rate I don't expect to shower in a bathtub. I'd also expect complementary mineral water. As seems normal in Spain the breakfast was overall good but the plates are ridiculously small - tea plates we'd call them in Britain. Hot food could have been hotter and a bit more variety. The biggest gripe was I was woken many times by the noise from the adjoining bedrooms. The sound insulation is useless.
