Wonderful Hotel With an Amazing Staff
Everything about this hotel is perfect especially the staff. We were warmly greeted & offered refreshments at checked in. When entering or leaving every staff member we encountered warmly greeted us. I required the services of a dentist, they immediately arranged an appointment and transportation. Our room was clean & modern with a wonderful view. The hotel is very quiet. We never heard sounds from the hallways or through the walls. I found the hotel to be very secure. Our room was always perfectly made up when we returned, no matter what time of day. Upon going out in the evening for dinner the turn down staff always refreshed the room. Every inch of this hotel was kept clean & in order. There was such a varied choice of items to choose from at breakfast. Eggs, meats, fresh baked goods, cereals, fruits, yogurts & so much more. The baked goods were amazing. Each day there were pastry chef quality fresh pies, cakes & other items. They were obviously freshly made & exquisitely decorated. There was a table of fresh juices, or if you preferred there was a machine in which you could place fresh oranges & squeeze your own juice. We dined at the rooftop restaurant one evening. We found the view to be wonderful & the meal to be very good and reasonably priced. The location was perfect for our needs. A short walk to a pedestrian street full of shops & restaurants, very close to the waterfront & very close to the ferry terminal which we walked to for our next destination.

Wonderful Hotel Close to Port, Shopping and Museum
Wow! This hotel gave us quite the welcome to our first visit to Greece. We arrived by plane and then rental car at close to midnight and after a couple of false starts, located the parking lot (hint, access is from eastbound lane. If coming from the airport, continue past the hotel to the traffic circle, make a U-turn, and turn right into the Port Bus Station, and turn right again to the parking lot security gate). The night guard promptly admitted us to the hotel lobby and escorted us to the check-in desk. After a good night's sleep, we watched the sunrise from the balcony as the first of the big ferry boats arrived. Then, downstairs for the most amazing breakfast featuring omelets to order, meats, cheeses, cereals, yogurt, breads, tarts, and many local delicacies. All foods were labeled with Greek and English names with a little history thrown in when applicable. The dining room offers a view of the port. The staff was very friendly and provided help with directions, beach towels, and recommendations for sheltered beaches since the wind whipped up the "North Shore" surf during our stay. We can't wait to come back!

The bus station was literally a few steps away from the hotel. Also, the port for island hopping is literally 7-10 minutes away by walk. You can't get a more convenient hotel. The moment we walked in, lovely ladies, took our bags & sat us down at a desk. The host offered us pastries, lemon water & great customer service throughout the process. That was the best check-in experience ever. A great first impression. The hotel decor is also quite elegant. We were WOW-ed by our room as well. Very high ceilings with long flowing curtains, lovely rot-iron balcony with a picturesque view of the fountain and pier. The room was super clean & very spacious. The 5th floor had a restaurant and an art deco pool with a stunning view that was an eye full! We had lunch at the restaurant and the food was so delicious and the service was just exquisite. I would highly recommend the Megaron salad, Pasta Carbonara, and get their ice cream! To add to the stellar customer service, they helped coordinate our dinner RSVP & situated our cab to the location & all our other needs were handled with ease. The breakfast buffet has large variety of food. There is a chef cooking omelettes that were made to order. By far, the best breakfast buffet in our entire vacation. Everything was absolutely delicious. This place goes above and beyond to make their guests feel like royalty! All of this for a great affordable value. You just can't beat it. I would highly recommend this gem!

    Excellent hub spot for Crete!
A very classical hotel that is worth the price. The breakfast was nice, not massive selection but certainly very good. Make sure you get a sea view room, it is worth the money because you will be treated to the port view and lovely sea colours. Only down side is a concrete monstrosity that sits on the docks. Hotel is less than 15 mins drive from airport, about 15-20 euros in taxi. Restaurant at the top deck is very tasty and refined. Travel agency and bus station right outside make travel around the island easy and cheap and can possible make a deal for a trip to Santorini. Bit of noise comes in through the doors but nothing to worry about. Staff are very helpful and managed to haggle a taxi from 200 euros to 100. Also made a birthday surprise possible. It is an easy 10 mins walk to the main strip with all the restaurants and shops. Rooms classical and comfortable.

    Very good 8.0
GDM Megaron is a pretty fancy hotel that is close to the port, which can be good, but I would also say the location it a bit questionable. Ran into a couple of panhandlers on the hotel steps and my bedroom overlooked a strip club and a street that got a bit noisy. The highlight of my stay was the breakfast buffet- it was truly epic with good local fresh foods. The room I stayed in was large and had 2 double beds pushed together to make a giant, semi-comfortable bed, but my phone kept falling into the crack between the two beds. The bathroom was large with very nice amenities including a tub and a TV. Be forewarned if you are watching the TV in the bathroom during your kids' bathtime, there was an unblocked porn channel on there for some reason. Not on the TV in the main bedroom though.
