If the sites (ie hotels.com and others) showed the actual rooms for the price given (ie this is the room for your money) I would not have booked that particular room. I booked a standard double and the pictures that showed were nothing like the one I got. We have stayed at the Caledonian previously with a lovely room and hence why we rebooked. Room 126 Seriously in need of updating stuck in another decade. The carpet was worn and patched, and pattern was reds blues like something you would put in an 80's childs room. The tub chair was sunken, the paintwork yellow with age webs on the ceiling, and the tiniest TV we have come across in a hotel room. The bathroom although functional was not the best ,again very dated with no towel rails and broken fixtures to the walls. The photos shown mislead ,show the true picture for your money then you can make an informed decision with no suprises No complaints at all with regards to staff, professionalism, booking in, overall cleanliness of the hotel. My review is based solely on what we expected with view of the photos and what we got. We will stay again but will definitely check before so what we are booking.

    ood non chain hotel

Hotel was under renovation. Public rooms are fine, bedrooms were tired and dated. Food was great, ate in the bar for dinner and breakfast was served in my bedroom, full English mmm!

Good value hotel in a prime location

Nice hotel friendly staff worked social distance very well. Very nice room ( executive room the bed was so comfortable) We had a room to the front was very noisy with the pubs and restaurants near, so if you wasn’t quite ask for a room further away. Garden wasn’t as nice as it showed in the pics, plants looked a bit whitherd and much smaller area than It looks in the pics. But it was still nice enough to sit out.

    Very friendly, very clean.

The staff were exceedingly helpful. Nothing was too much bother for them. I didn’t see too much of the hotel due to social distancing but what I did see was well kept and clean. Checkout was at midday which is a little longer than most places and allowed us a lay in on our last day. I would definitely visit again once this pandemic is over.
