Magnificent place to stay in Edinburgh
A truly magnificent Hotel with rooms that are beyond grand and will make you wish you never have to leave. The service was second to none and nothing was too much bother. The Salisbury Arms pub at the end of the street is also excellent for your evening dining and I loved this place beyond measure. A shout out to to the breakfast staff who were fun, knowledgable and overall a great service. Only thing I would improve is a fridge in the room would be great xx

I expected better.
Hotel was "just fine", I had expected better for £140 (breakfast not included). My room was eye-level with the car park, but generously described as "ground floor". The furnishings felt a little bit cheap, as did other things e.g. the box of tissues in the room were the very cheapest and thinnest money can buy. Just don't bother providing tissues if that's the best you can do, I think. And the breakfast items weren't the best quality. The staff I dealt with were lovely, especially the cleaners and breakfast staff, but overall the hotel was "just good enough and no more".

A stay in Salisbury!
The hotel is out of the city centre, but loads of buses round the corner to take you into the heart of Edinburgh. Car park is small, requiring some double parking, so keys may need to be left securely at reception. Breakfast was excellent, with a choice of continental or full cooked etc. The only criticism was because of the way the shower - semi wet room - in our case was constructed, created some minor areas not so easy to keep clean. This was the only point to mark down. Otherwise, the hotel is very good, maybe not the cheapest, but more plus than minus.

Nice location with free parking
Hotel is located in a nice quiet area and has lot of pros: - Free parking which a great value added in Edinburgh - Very quiet location - We had a very nice view on the back garden - Center is just 15/20 mins walk depending whether you want to reach the Royal mile or Princess Street, alternatively there are many buses options around the corner - The main road to the center, Newington Rd, is crowded of nice restaurants with plenty of options including ethnic food, as that's University area - Hotel also offers meal options at Spencer's Bistro, which for any reason is not mentioned on their website. I ate there one evening and had delicious Harris Croquettes and Haddock in Batter. - Staff is very nice, especially at the Bistro Now the reason I only rated them 4 out of 5 is that we had a problem with the mattress which was very uncomfortable, as it was worn out. They reassured me that the mattresses were new and that they would have reported the problem as still in warranty. Breakfast was good, but was a little bit surprised that they didn't have raisins to add to the porridge. A safe in the room could be a nice add on.
