8/10 Very good

The hotel is in a good location and within walking distance of the City centre. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the only negative was the noise in our bedroom from the karaoke bar below us.

The room was perfect, the place is perfectly located (I realized when I got there that this is where the Cricketer's Arms used to be, long ago), and it was exactly what I needed at a brilliant price. I'll book here again.

8/10 Very good

Room was quirky, clean and had good amenities (perhaps only missing an iron?) with a particularly good shower and comfortable bed. The location is great, not in centre but a nice walk with plenty of cafe’s, restaurants and bars nearby. Only downside’s We stopped on a Friday and Saturday night and it was noisy from the bar/karaoke downstairs till circa 1am, (we had fun guessing what the song was) however they do warn you when booking and provide ear plugs. Also the stairs are quite steep but again they have plenty of warning and offer assistance if required. Overall thought it was good value for Oxford

Fabulous hotel, great stay

The hotel was amazing! Ideally situated Lovely themed rooms, very quirky and brilliantly authentic. Spacious, clean, comfortable and great facilities. The staff were attentive and responded swiftly and positively to our communications about the booking. Attention to detail and an even a kind gift for my daughter’s birthday. Would certainly recommend.

6/10 Good

The hotel room was extremely clean, comfortable and nicely updated. The area is walkable and close to the High Street area. The only draw back is there is a bar on the first floor and stays open very late. Very loud.

I had a wonderful stay at the Mad Hatter! It was a convenient walk to shops, the Christ Church Meadow, restaurants, etc. The eccentric decorations on the property were adorable. The hosts were extremely nice and accommodating. Pro Tip: make sure you do the virtual check-in before you are too jetlagged to understand the instructions! I made the mistake of not handling the check-in until the last minute and I was so tired and confused that I had trouble with understanding the email and completing the check-in The staff was extremely kind and patient with me.

8/10 Very good

No staff on site and trying to find the door in was a bit of a chore as it’s Aaron’s the corner on Circus St. Room was very clean and done up nicely. No air conditioning so that could be a significant issue. They had a fan going and temps dropped a bit during the night so we werefine

6/10 Good

Lovely room, although extremely hot in Summer. We were grateful for a large fan left in the room. The staff were quite standoffish and we felt like we were a hassle asking for anything, so that is the main reason we didn't give this 4/5.

8/10 Very good

Great position.

Room was nicely decorated and we did appreciate the fridge, and bonus ear plugs and eye masks, though we didn’t really need them as we stayed early in week. The climb to the top was a challenge for us, but may not bother more able bodied people, but I wouldn’t want to try getting big bags up there! My only concern during the stay was the lack of clear fire escape and or emergency details. Top floor and only one way to escape. Whilst we were comfortable, price was good, and the hotel well located.. I wouldn’t stay again, because of my fire concerns. I did note that they appeared to have roof sprinkler system.

6/10 Good

Good location within Oxford. The room was clean ans presentable with a comfortable bed and good size. This place would have gotten a 4 or even 5* review if it weren't for the loud music playing from downstairs. We were told this would stop at midnight, and so we made sure to stay out until past midnight. However, even returning at 1am, the music was still incredibly loud and bassy into the room, up until 2am. Do not stay here if you intend to sleep before 2am.

4/10 Fair

Bar with Rooms

Our room was on the top floor but sounded like the bar was next door. Music blared out until after 1am on Saturday night, followed by revellers shouting on the street. No chance of getting any sleep before 1.30am. No breakfast facilities and self check in. Staff (Jess) were very responsive, but service quite slow in the bar. A bar with rooms rather than a hotel with a bar.

8/10 Very good

Love the Alice in Wonderland theme. We stayed in Alice’s Chambers, all blue and white, very charming and pretty. Everything was newly renovated and impressive. Fabulous shower with TWO shower heads and push-button temperature control. Very nice bathroom, although there was no outlet … is this a UK thing? We’re 1 for 4 so far on bathrooms with an outlet. Comfortable bed, plenty of hot water, lots of outlets, big TV, no on-site staff but excellent by-phone service when the Wifi needed to be reset. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, and an easy walk to the Botannic Garden, the Covered Market, a large park with a great view of the city, and the train station. On the less good side, there’s no elevator and three flights of stairs with our heavy luggage was not fun. We tried to message them ahead of time for assistance, but Expedia said the mailbox was full and could not accept more messages. There’s a bar on the ground floor, very noisy at night until the live music stops - 10:00 one night, midnight the next.
