Good for one night
I'd been to the restaurant and bar at The Jane Hotel when it first reopened in 2008 and I was really enamored with its history, so when I needed an easy, affordable place to stay in NYC, it was an easy choice to make. For me, it would've been totally fine for 1 night. Three nights was a bit much. Because there's currently renovation happening on the restaurant, bar, rooftop, and rooms, it was a loud stay — with jackhammering starting at 8 a.m. On the second night, there was a fire alarm that went off at 7:15 a.m. And in the mornings, there was a cleaning staffer talking loudly and vacuuming. Overall, a loud stay. The front desk staff and bellmen were wonderful, and it's a gorgeous old building. I look forward to the new restaurant and club and rooftop bar opening back up and checking it out. But I don't think I'll stay again for more than 1 night.

Don't Stay until after construction is done!
This WOULD be a wonderful potential place, however, most of it was under construction. The 6'x10' bunkbed rooms were the ONLY PLACE TO STAY because the rest of the building, including one of the two shared restrooms, was under construction. There was no Ballroom or Mezzanine Bar, or Rooftop Lounge due to the construction. The only place my son and I could stay was our room which was very close to a smoker so we smelled smoke nearly our entire stay. Had we known that this would be the case, we never would have stayed here. Hotels.com needs to do a better job of notifying patrons of things like construction changing the amenities.

Not a good time to stay at the Jane
I was a return guest at the Jane. I stayed in December and just stayed again this week. I had a great time in December. I was on the 5th floor, didn’t experience any noise issues, and despite the shared bathrooms, they were always empty and accessible. This stay was much worse and and was more so a representation of the negative which I’ve heard other people mention. The Jane has a LOT of construction happening right now. Not only does it make each floor confusing to navigate, but it appears to have closed off portions of floors, and as such, has closed a bathroom. I was on the 3rd and I believe each floor is supposed to have 2 bathrooms, but we only had one so it was always packed. One morning I went up to the 4th. Also, with all the construction that is lessening the amount of rooms I guess, it feels like they’re packing people in tighter. A lot more noise from my neighbors and the hall constantly reeked of weed. If every stay could have been like my December stay, I would have been happy, but this not so much. I also wasn’t informed ahead of time about the construction. I know I booked through hotels.com, but I did visit the jane’s official website the same day I booked and there wasn’t a warning up. Now there is, but I don’t agree that the construction won’t impact your stay.

Needs a deep clean
I went into it knowing the hotel was under construction. The only rooms available were the smalls cabins with shared bathrooms. With that being said you’d expect the bathrooms to be a bit cleaner since that’s all that was available. The showers were a little sketchy (mildew) and had an interesting smell. Beds were uncomfortable and the carpets throughout the halls and in the room looked like they needed a good shampooing.
