Good place for pool vacation - not beach vacation
My wife and I stayed at SCC for 6 days and 5 nights in late Jan/early Feb. We moved to SCC after spending 4 nights at Excellence El Carmen - which was not our favorite place.
Overall, SCC is a beautiful property that offers almost everything you want in a vacation - with the exception of a nice beach and beautiful, clear water.
If you haven't been to Punta Cana, know that the beaches and water are more like Cancun - murky water with mid-sized waves. Few people actually get in the ocean. This is in contrast to Turks & Caicos where you have perfectly clear water, almost zero waves and most everyone spends their time in the ocean.
SCC is an expansive property, but not so much that you need a golf cart. It's easily walkable. The staff is nice and accommodating. The service is OK - about what you would expect in an all-inclusive. The food is OK.
We stayed in building 2 facing the ocean which is a good spot. The rooms are very nice. We ate at all the restaurants and each was a pleasant experience. About 30 yards from the entrance is "Sanctuary Town" which is a mock retail center with restaurants (sushi, Italian, World of Beers) and a couple of shops. All but World of Beer is included in all-inclusive deal.
No timeshare issues, no beach vendors, good drinks & food, decent service and a few fun pool activities. The pool and the "hot tub" are not heated, so expect so chilly water. The weather was perfe
