Short Break away
Short break to Scarborough, was good value for money, very good with all hygiene due to present conditions, lovey large sea view room with large bath/shower room, overall conditions good.

Grand old hotel
Stayed here with a friend we should have attended a gig at the open air theatre but unfortunately it was cancelled but this hotel is in a perfect location for that venue. The hotel itself is a grand old building with rooms that could do with some modernising but it was very clean (COVID standards) the staff were very helpful. We had a family room overlooking the sea and had no issues at all with our stay, would use this hotel again.

Scarbados stay cation
Pleasantly surprised for what we paid. Our room was spotless and a decent size for two people sharing. There has been a lot of effort to try and provide the same facilities and adhere to the Covid rules , you still get tea & coffee in the room but only disposable paper cups and tea bags , sugar etc are in sealed plastic packs with disposable spoons. The staff dont come into the room to replenish tea & coffee or change towels at the moment but if you leave your used towels outside the door they are replaced with clean ones and extra teas etc can be picked up at reception. Dont expect a modern hotel this is an old building with traditional features and furniture. It appears to have had a bit of a refurb , nice new carpets. Good location, not too far from the town centre , close to the beach , open air theatre and park. Staff friendly and helpful. If you are happy to take a chance with parking , scratch cards are available at reception, if not pre book parking as space is limited. There are a couple of local pubs close by if you fancy a night out. I've stayed in Scarborough many times in various types of accommodation ranging from the 5 star Sands complex on the sea front to small independent B & B and I have paid a lot more for less , I would not hesitate to stay at the Clifton again. The only drawback is the noise of the seagulls , the weather was really hot when we stayed and we needed the windows open at night. Invest in some earplugs.

Terrible, don’t believe the photos(breakfast good)
Do not believe the photos... booked a sea view, was first given a car park view in the smallest dingy room I’ve ever been in, then was told I hadn’t booked sea view, on checking realised I had but no doubles left so ended up in a sea view twin room with the beds pushed together. The room was again nothing like the pictures. The hotel is tired, unloved, the outside is not the white building on the lovely pictures, the lift plaster falling off, The carpet filthy, bearing in mind hotels as everyone else have new rules to comply with. The bedroom windows all rotten, the wallpaper was 1970’s special, the bathroom cupboard falling apart And looks like had a flood and they’ve replaced one handle with something completely different, their were hairs in the bath (the sticker was on the door to say had been COVID standard cleaned!) The only positive was the breakfast and the breakfast staff the next morning. Excellent breakfast and could cater for me too being gluten free, this however would not make me recommend.

Exceptional 10.0
would stay agin
cleanliness inside hotel was brilliant, windows outside were really dirty, just need a window cleaner, very short of staff so reception and bar staff trying to do two jobs. Not really acceptable as residents waiting up to 20 minutes for bar sevice.

irst time.......
on arrival told no parking,it has to be pre-booked,both my partner have health issues,so did not make for a good start.then told no evening meals were available, not very forth coming with info on where to eat,not knowing the area not very helpful, the door man glen did take pity on me and gave us some advise, which turned out to be in our favor. room large on a whole in need of TLC no opening windows all painted shut.views were amazing. Bathroom on a whole clean but not under the sink very grubby. only 2 paper cups and a kettle no tea/coffee etc. dirty linen and towels left outside room all night.....

Unsatisfied
They changed our hotel from the Clifton to the grand hotel Scarborough with no explanation to why so we arrived for checking in at 3 and the queue wasn’t moving so after a hour we decided to come back later and we finally got checked in at 8-30 pm with no explanation to what was taking so long ! I was having a shower and the staff knocked on the door saying there was a leek in the room below don’t use the shower so my partner couldn’t have one and I couldn’t this morning I feel this hotel wasn’t prepared for so many guests and feel ripped off with the experience and I wouldn’t have chosen the grand hotel in the first place and wouldn’t stay again
