Nice hotel with great staff
Nicely designed and well kept hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable and well appointed rooms. Dinner was very nice, but breakfast was let down by the temperature of the hot items. Otherwise it was decent. It's close enough to the airport to use as a layover hotel (which we did). It's a few miles from Papetee but they run occasional shuttles - otherwise it's a taxi ride which are quite costly on the islands (approx £20) or if you're braver, take the west coast bus which is about £2.50. We even walked it one time, but it took just over an hour in humid conditions, with nothing pleasant to look at on the way. There are a few restaurants fairly close by and a dance school if you want something daft to do - but not much else locally. The hotel is having its beach front redeveloped at the moment (Until August I believe). There's obviously noise going on, but it's not unbearable. It also means there is no swim up bar and a smaller pool area at the moment. They have a makeshift bar by the pool area though. It looks like it will be beautiful when it's done. We had a seaview suite and although the noise during the day was a pain, it was finished around 1700. Be warned that the ground floor seaview rooms have no view at all, as they look directly at the worksite. All in all, a nice hotel (which will be improved when the new pool area is complete) with great staff. Very friendly, warm and helpful. We would stay again.

Tahiti overnight stay.
Hotel a bit tired, public areas nice but room very dated and technology poor. TV 20 years out of date and terrible WiFi performance, non existent in room. Two twin beds pushed together with very firm mattress. Restaurant however was fantastic... like a different hotel! Food and setting very impressive. Only used for one night to tie itinerary together so overall the stay was ok.

Avoid this hotel until building work is finished!
The big problem, which we feel we should have been told about (and offered to cancel because of this) was the building work going on both next to the pool and directly in front of the block of lagoon view rooms we had been allocated - not just unsightly, but also very noisy and smell (diesel smell). We were lucky that after being persistent we got our room changed to one overlooking the pool, with the building works off to one side and out of view ( but not out of hearing range unfortunately). Under the circumstances we felt the non-refundable rate was way too expensive for the disruption and in retrospect if we had know we would have booked the Intercontinental instead. We got a room credit as compensation, but all that bought was a couple of beers each or cocktail only at happy hour prices. It kind of spoil the the last day of an otherwise fab holiday.

Not worth the money
This might offer a great stay for some. We were not offered a welcome drink while others around us were. We’d booked a delux pool/garden/ocean type view room. With great effort you could imagine you saw the ocean, the back of dining area and some garden. Front desk unfriendly. Restaurant very expensive, breakfast buffet nice but over $35 each. The lunch was average, two hours after eating I vomited for several hours. Pool, ocean lovely.
