You could travel round the world without coming to such an amazing hotel as the Charmante in Bergen. The whimsical decor filling every nook and cranny of the hotel made for a magical experience. The softly playing music from belle epoque France added to the enticing mood that the hotel seeks to create. Tucked into a narrow street the hotel is close to the iconic historical sites of Bergen. A wonderful, wonderful place to appreciate and spend some heavenly time.

Very romantic place to stay. Charming rooms, classic, but not tacky. Modern technology used for ac/heating and background music. Spotless. Staff is attentive and polite, even when it gets busy. Free espresso and coffee station set up outside to be used anytime. À la carte breakfast was beautifully served and tasted just as it looked. We ordered from the menu every morning, never got bored. Would love to return.

The room was spacious, and mine had a shower rather than a bathtub, which I preferred. The water pressure was excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly, especially Sandra, Joyce, and the lovely gentleman on the night shift who helped resolve a room issue. The complimentary breakfast was genuinely amazing, with top-notch quality food. The location is very central, making it easy to walk everywhere, with several convenience stores and shopping areas nearby. There’s a communal coffee machine on the second floor offering tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, although there isn’t a kettle in the room. The beds were very comfortable, and I slept really well. My room was relatively quiet, as it didn’t face the bar or the street. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel, especially for female solo travelers, as it felt very safe.

So the crazy decor grew on us once we adjusted, we liked it. The thing i didnt like is banging my head 4 different times because of the sloped ceilings everywhere. That sucked. Also why would you jam a 2 person bed into the corner like that with a ceiling 13 inches over their head? Thats crazy. Also you had every ammenity one could ask for except for the most basic amenity. Body lotion!!! How can you have a hair dryer, steamer, dental kit, sewing kit, shaving kit, etc and literally everything but no body or hand lotion? Even cheap hotels have hand or body lotion so thats crazy. Also we had no cleaning during our 3 night stay! Every day we left the sign to make the room sparkle and came back to zero cleaning. One day we got the bed turned down but they didnt even pick up towels on the floor or pick up anything at all. I mean truly zero cleaning. That was surprising. Everything else was nice. Very comfy sheets and beds but invest in blackout curtains. Its light out 20 hours a day in summer! Thanks! Staff was very nice. Great location as well. Most interesting decor of any hotel ever! Truly unique.

Lovely interior and rooms. Great location for Bergen and in a small street with allot of good bars and restaurants. With improvement to how the staff run the hotel it would be top notch. However, little things here and there let them down. Overall recommend short stay of in Bergen for a couple of nights.

This was a lovely place with a quirky French charm. We loved the breakfasts (included) and the dinner in their restaurant was superb. There several cozy places to gather with complimentary coffee, etc., available 24 hours. The staff was extremely warm, congenial and attentive. The only downside was it was dark: the bathrooms in particular were so dark it was difficult to shave, apply make up or even read the bottles in the shower to see which was shampoo or conditioner.
