Located close to the airport but in a shady area
We booked this place because of its location. After a week long travel, we had a morning flight from Auckland so we decided to stay one night. Finding a place was easy but the place is not well lit, so if uou arrive at night you may miss it. Hotel staff is just a family staying next door to the office. They were very nice. The rooms were OK but outdated. Specially the bathroom was aweful. I jave never seem red towels in a bayhroom. I giess they were clean, bit how can you check for apots? The bathroom door has no lock and kept aliding open. The baghroom floor, coffee cups were made of steel! The room rate was pretty high based on the quality. It should be half the price. Late at night we heard police sirens. First one in NZ in our 600 km drive of the north island. However, we are from Los Angeles and no stranger to sirens but it was a bit unusual for NZ. One good thing about this place is if you like curry, there are many of those restaurants close by owned by Fijian Indians. They are really good! Overall, I would recommend this to single person or a college group on a budget (although it was not that cheap!) but not for families.

Poor 2.0
Not a laughing joke
What a pathetic excuse for a $150 night hotel. Its clear that any problem with the hotel there is a already thought excuse to go with it. Examples, prior to arrival most the reviews stated that wifi was a significant problemsl, upon my partner checking in befor myself due to work was given a pathetic coupon for a mere 750mb of data for a two night stay. Quickly after a call a futher 4gb was given. Upon arriving i tried to connect to the wifi. With no luck and a quick internet speed test discovered that it wasent even strong enough to form a connection. I bought up this issue and hot told that its a problem and there is nothing the can or will do about it, with the only help being offered to sit in the reception to use there own wifi (which was working but no the hotels) just goes to show that they are in no hurry to fix any problems and yet charge top price. I was offered no compensation by the owner amd told that there is nothing he could do. Lucky for me the site Hotels.com was actually helping in compensations for the issue. With the wifi, the kitchen is dirty. With signs of mold recycled dishes from the last occupants. The shower eas seriously out dated. For they money the charge i would stay some where else.

Very good 8.0
Good for the low price
I would have to say the guy at reception was by far the most helpful and friendliest I've ever come across, and I've travelled a lot. The other staff/cleaners were also very friendly. The hotel was good for such a low price. Clean and spacious rooms. Good wifi, quiet street with shopping mall and large grocery store opposite. Main shopping street was out other side of mall. Thursday evenings had a good food market along street. Only complaint I'd have is the maid service did vary each day depending on which girl did your room. One would replenish all toiletries and tea/coffee etc, and another day you'd get none, just a made bed and towels. Also the fan in the bathroom was loud.

Exceptional 10.0
Excellent hotel close to everything
We stayed here one night. It was a rainy day and we arrived a couple of hours eatly but the hotel staff was nice enough to give us the room. They also suggested a few places and have us coupons but we only used a spa service because of the weather. The parking is a bot tight and I felt overall in Rotorua the drivers are a bit crazy unlike other NZ cities but not as crazy as Los Angeles. The room has small kitchenette and they provided milk for tea. The bathroom was clean and nice. Overall, it was a nice stay - wish the weather was better!

Good 6.0
Needs some improvement
We were told our room was an upgrade. It had a spa bath (it didn't work well and blew the electricity in the room). Also, the room smelled very musty and left our clothes smelling that way after we left. The other room where our friends stayed was fine.
