Great location! Very nice and helpful staff. Breakfast was outstanding. We had 2 rooms. One west facing with a great view of Yosemite Falls. The other room was east facing with a phenomenal view of Half Dome. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Do not stay here. From the time we checked in and checked out there were issues. First was that we had to wait for the room to be ready, and in order to get wifi needed the room number that they 'didn't know yet.' The hotel was not full but we could not book a different room with one bed rather than two. The worker that rolled our luggage in told us that it was at half capacity. Instructions for the hotel were given in rapid speed so it was hard to keep up. Once we checked in, the room was in poor condition, bugs in the bathroom, hot with air conditioning not working as 'the hotel only had heat right now' and it was 85 degrees out! We asked for an extension cord for our fan, they did not get back to us. The worse thing was trying to eat. The food at the bar was not sufficient and not open at times such as breakfast. We could not eat at a buffet that was nearly EMPTY since 'five staff had called out' and we needed a reservation and they were booked. What??!! For 800 a night there is an expectation of trying to make it work out. Like hey grab a plate, we won't be able to get you a drink or something. Not sorry! No food right before hiking. The staff is RUDE! The location is great but we should have stayed in a tent. We would have been treated better. This was also our anniversary weekend. We tried to enjoy our time the best we could but this was unacceptable. Elevator broken, no food available, nothing offered, no AC, dirty room, no bike rental, no room service since 2019.

First, reading the negative review, I was worried. OMG, when we arrived to check in the guest service workers, were so friendly, courteous and helpful. Our room was facing the mountain view, which was incredible. I had read reviews, so I knew to make reservations for mealtimes we wanted, which worked perfect. One of the hostess Nina was so positive seating us near a window where on the 1st morning there were deer in the meadow. Our waitress who we had the entire time was Caralien was so attentive made breakfast so enjoyable. The elevator operators so courteous, housekeeper cleaned are room every day. We went off season, so there is basically only one other place open for food, near the visitor center Degnan's kitchen delicious sandwiches and soup and the workers so accommodating. I recommend this hotel its history, location is a must. We were able to see everything and hike trails without leaving the park. When driving into the park it was snowing and there are no side railing or mile markers. We rented a AWD vehicle so we had no problem driving in the snow. Looking out our window at half dome, seeing waterfalls, watching deer. It was amazing. Landing in Fresno we took an hour detour to Sequoia National Park, since we couldn't check in our room till 4pm. Was so worth it, then we drove to Ahwahnee. Enjoyed breakfast the next day and went to Mirror Lake, checked out El captain, Bridal veil Falls went to Tunnel view a must. Then we went hiking Mariposa Falls, so hard.

We arrived on 1/3/26 after a long hike. Once we arrived the room was cold and there was no hot water. Evidently there was an issue across the resort that resulted in the bar and restaurant closed which forced to drive somewhere else for dinner. A primary reason we booed the Ahwahnee was to come back from a long hike, shower, and have a nice dinner... fail. At 1am the room was so hot I had to open the window to cool it down to <75F. At check-out, the staff simply said "sorry" and asked why I didn't call at 1am to have them fix the cooling issue. For an almost $600 one night stay this is basically the worst place I've ever stayed in the last 10yrs.The fact that the hotel did not even offer a partial refund is unacceptable.

The location of the Ahwahnee is the most beautiful in the world. Everything’s wonderful The hotel is very clean and very well ran. The restaurant is five star and the food is exquisite. Truly, a fantastic experience.

This is an architectural wonder set in a natural wonder! It would be helpful to remind guests that when they book their rooms, they should also make dining reservations.

If you are going to stay in a hotel in Yosemite then this is the best place to stay. But the property has declined a lot in the last few decades - our room was large and clean, but the interior of the building is in bad shape - water stains, worn rugs, chipped paint - and the large spider webs on the outside of the windows are off-putting. With a few exceptions the staff were not friendly or helpful. The food was average, Sysco fare. The dining room offers only steam table food, is poorly lit, but has incredible views. The last day of our stay the elevators were out of service and the staff were slow to respond to requests from guests to get their bags brought down from rooms on the upper floors.

I feel since we booked we got the worse room. We were shoved in a corner room overlooking the heating and cooling units and construction materials and trucks. The hotel had opened rooms because when we were sitting outside staring at Half Dome hardly any lights were on in the rooms.

Save the money, stay at the Lodge

For the price, I expected better. I used to be a gm for a luxury historic hotel, so I am very familiar with the hospitality industry. The Ahwahnee is a beautiful property. The wait staff, valets and bellmen were excellent. The concierge was rude and rather snotty. (I believer her name was Michelle). The blankets/comforters on the beds were terrible, thin little things. We were provided with extra blankets, which helped. The room was clean, except for a stain on the sofa. The food in the bar was actually superior to the dining room, but in fairness, the dining room was limited to a buffet at the time of our stay. I would stay there again, but only if I got a special deal. For the money, it isnt that much better than the Yosemite Lodge.

My god. This property has gone downhill in the last couple of years. Food has been god awful and the quality has gone drastically down. Buffet food for both dinner and breakfast are terrible. Better off going to the Mountain Dining Room. We stayed at a Classic Cottage and the room is in desperate need of a renovation or a refresh. The room was dirty. The heater didn’t work and the water pressure wasn’t even there. It was insane. And what is up with the parking?? $30 a night for hotel guest?? If im paying $600 a night why the hell should I pay for parking if I’m a hotel guest. Everything in the hotel has been rundown and need to be fixed. Trust me I used to love the Ahwahnee hotel when I first stayed, but believe me when I say. The price point is not worth it. You’re better off staying at the Yosemite Valley Lodge for 1/3 of the price and around better hiking trails and closer to everything else. Terrible place and experience.
