I know the pictures look a bit basic but Gelmirez was a lovely hotel to stay in. It is conveniently located within walking distance to the historic town centre, there's a supermarket and pharmacy next door which is another big plus. It is simple accommodation, but very clean, modern and comfortable. Hotel reception (especially Irene) have been superstars. So lovely so welcoming, I really had an amazing time. Was even offered to leave some of my stuff with them so I wouldn't have to take all of my belongings on my pilgrimage even though I stayed in a different hotel on my return to Santiago. It's a great choice to stay and I will come back one day. Thanks for having me!
This is our 'go to' hotel in Santiago. We only ever stay one night at a time as we are usually on our way from or too the airport or elsewhere in Galicia but it's in a great location: convenient for the airport bus, the railway station and the old town - and with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. The hotel itself is comfortable, clean, generally quiet and has helpful staff.
Nice tidy modern hotel. The bed was too hard for my taste, but good AC and very clean. Great service personnel.
Good sevice & friendly staff& good locatin
Stayed in room 607 and it was terribly noisy. In particular the cleaners.
The location was great. However do not get a room at the front of hotel, NOISY ALL NIGHT LONG. Staff moved us next morning. A market just next door for water, snacks etc. Breakfast was ok. Gym had all necessary equipment and was good size area but, some equipment needs maintenance as well as a clock, wipes and water. All staff we encountered were terrific except one. She worked in the evening and had long red/pink hair. Not nice or helpful at all.
Very clean. Nice personal . Good breakfast. Good location.
Hotel Gelmírez was a very pleasant place to stay. While it's not particularly special, it's just a typical modern hotel, but it does a really good job of being a hotel. The rooms were pretty, everything was very clean, the reception desk was friendly and open at 1:30am (when I finally arrived after missed flights and other adventures), the breakfast buffet had a wide variety of fresh and tasty food, and the lobby was spacious and had very comfy chairs. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a hotel in the area.
We stayed here for 5 nights. The rooms were nice and clean. Beds were fairly comfortable. The food was the same buffet everyday (a little on the gross side). What really ruined my stay was the horrible customer service at the front desk. There were 3 people in particular who were so difficult to work with. Asking for help with anything was met with either an impatient answer (dry t or just a flat out no. Santiago is fairly wet so our towels didn’t dry in our rooms overnight so we asked for new towels on our 2nd day and when we asked for new towels to take a shower we were told no. You only get towels every 2 days. Ice? Corkscrew? Forget about it. We even got yelled at for standing in the lobby with a cup of coffee. If felt like the front desk
A great place to stay. Not too far from the city centre.
