So close to perfect.
The Mandarin is undoubtedly a very beautiful hotel and I booked this due to the fact it was no smoking and didn't have a casino. The hotel and the quality of food (I only had room service and café food) was exceptional, let down only by the cleanliness of the room (1225) and the light switches. The room was amazing, with a strip view, everything worked fine but the amount of dust to the wooden floor, bedside tables was considerable given that it is cleaned daily and turned down in the evening. Also, the marble floor in the bathroom is a clever colour as you cannot easily see the marks that need cleaning. It did need a good scrub. The light switches are all illuminated and I could never get to learn in 4 nights how they switched off. When they were illuminated they were really bright so having blackout blinds was almost pointless. Other than the above the hotel was great, food amazing and I only got half a day by the pool but the pool area and staff service was nothing I had experienced before, top service but slightly let down by the room cleanliness.
