Perfect Cotswold stay!

Nice - attention to detail could make it better
Main building is nice but we stayed in the orangery which is dated and tired, although the rooms are big. Watch out for rooms with large windows on cold nights - especially with leaking tepid radiators. On the plus side, staff are attentive and breakfast was good. A bit of tlc and this could be 4⭐️

Dirty and disappointing
While we were waiting to check in we had to wait behind a couple who were complaining about the state of the room not being good enough. Not a good start. We were booked in to a feature room. The lock didn't work on the door and we had to be moved to the next room. The room was dirty. The bathroom was mouldy and the bath and taps covered in limescale. The stairs down to the spa were filthy with bags of dirty linen just outside the spa entrance. The whole hotel was grubby. The couple in the next room to us checked out early because they were unhappy with the standards. We were booked in for 2 nights and were looking forward to a nice relaxing break. We tried to make the most of it and stayed one night. The breakfast had good quality food but it was too cold which ruined it. That was it for us and we decided we couldn't stay any longer. We complained to the manager and checked out. She did say she agreed with us and some of the issues were not their usual standard. She also tried to say that as it was an old hotel it was hard to keep it up to standard. That was not in their description or reflected in the price. It was a very disappointing stay in what should be a lovely hotel. I feel cheated to have paid for a very poor experience.

Not 4* quality.
Hotel not worthy of 4 star status, in our opinion. Room overall clean and comfortable, although slight concern over lights with no switches by bed to turn bedside lamps on. Also only socket for kettle was opposite side of the room from refreshment table and had to place kettle on floor. Room not refreshed fully, cups not cleaned or replaced and supplies not refreshed either. Very poor bar service 15 minute wait for service and no apology given, this happened on both occasions when we used the bar and other guests decided not to wait. WiFi and TV signal haphazard. Overall outside of house and gardens in need of tlc, very tatty and unappealing. Will not be rushing back.

Peaceful hotel just not paticularly clean
Pleasantly surprised to be staying in the coach house. A bed was set up for our two year old which he loved and the room was nice and big including the bathroom. Parking spaces for this part of the hotel were a bit on the small side but we were always considerate and parked slightly on the verge to allow others to park next to us and so we could get our child in and out. However on one return trip someone had put a cone in one of the spaces next to their car so we had to park in the main car park which was fine until we needed to pack the car up so I actually removed the cone the following morning and parked our car there. Bit cheeky of other guests to be doing that. The bathroom had not been cleaned properly. There were big black hairs everywhere, all over the floor, in the bath, on the toilet. I asked the following morning if they could give it a good clean which they said they would. On our return there we’re still hairs so housecleaning aren’t particularly thourough unfortunetly. When I checked out I wasn’t asked by reception about our stay at all. She just took the key and said thank you. Despite these flaws we actually had a lovely peaceful stay and it was a great base to get to The Big Feastival which is why we stayed here.
