A short break
Good location with easy access to attractions , quiet at night when you wish to rest. Food was good quality and value, particularly when you pre book breakfast. It was great to park on campus and forget the car. Tram and bus passes are good value.

Could have been warmer
Room was cold through the night as it appeared that the central heating goes off around midnight. Windows were draughty but that could have been made worse by the severe winds over our stay. Service by staff and breakfasts were superb. Only down side is lack of dedicated parking spaces.

One night stay.
Good location to centre. Mostly Europeans working there but all staff pleasant and helpful. Ate in the restaurant which was ok. I had salmon and my husband had chefs special which was sea bass. Mine was great and my husband’s fish portion was tiny. He was disappointed as he loves fish and was expecting a decent portion. Breakfast was average. Room was lovely and large. The bathroom was also large with a lovely walk in shower. No bath but I prefer a shower anyway. I was in a deluxe room which I would recommend. I would stay again. We only stayed one night. When I opened the curtains you could see Arthur’s Seat what a lovely view.

Good stay in a quirky place
2 nights stay. The room was small, but had everything I needed, including real coffee!!!! The pillows were slightly uncomfortable, but apart from that, it was fine. Breakfast was excellent

NYE stay as a couple
Stayed here with my boyfriend and we loved it! Location had to be the best thing! Only a 20-30 minute walk to all the major sights of Edinburgh in the city centre and at the bottom of Arthur's seat which is great for a morning hike before heading out into the city centre! The hotel is clean and came with great amenities in the room like a proper hair dryer, iron and iron board, money safe! All the workers were friendly and happy to help if had any questions. Only minor thing was we thought breakfast was a little pricey (but to be fair we are in a city so guess can expect that) and we got a cab booked by the hotel back to the airport which we was told was a set price of £24 but the driver charged us £35 when we arrived. This is more at fault of the cab company but would just have been nice to have a heads up from the hotel maybe if they contact them to confirm the set price they are telling people. Apart from them couple of things, cannot fault the hotel or the staff! Would definitely recommend and will be returning if I find myself in Edinburgh again!

Ideal location, ideal hotel
The hotel staff were excellent. All were very friendly and chatty, went above and beyond to get some lemon, ginger and honey tea for illness! The hotel was in an ideal location with a lovely view of Arthurs seat. It was approximately 20-25 minute walk down to the Royal Mile, a 5 minute walk to one of the routes of Arthurs seat, and if you're not feeling the walk, busses regularly leave from outside the main gate. A 30 or 33 will take you right through the heart of Edinburgh. We stayed in a Duluxe Double room which was a very nice room with en-suite. The bed, however, was 2 singles pushed together which meant having a lump and small gap in the middle of the bed. This made it uncomfortable for laying in the centre to watch tv. Also there was what seemed like a coffee stain on the sheets. The breakfast buffet spread was amazing. Plenty of fresh choices and something for everyone. Full english, cereal, continental and fresh fruit, simply superb. Would reccomend this to anyone who is looking for a getaway to Edinburgh. Ideal location, ideal hotel.

We stayed in the Mansion House. It looks lovely and very impressive from the outside, but our room only seemed half renovated. Due to the old building shape it wasn't very cozy, and while attempts had been made to modernize the room, it wasn't quite there yet. For example, lovely comfortable bed and inviting wallpaper, but old carpet, single-glazed window and basic other furniture. Some functionalities (such as coat hangers and plug sockets on either side of the bed) were missing, other elements (such as tea and coffee selection) were well thought through. Breakfast buffet as expected, cooked breakfast not amazing, but good selection of food!
