Far too overpriced!!

Very disappointing. I thought we’d treat ourselves to a nice room as it was my wife’s birthday and Mother’s Day. We opted for the Castle Superior room at £184. Very small room!! I understand this is an old building but the cost was far too much for what we got. The idea was to pay for an expensive room as a treat… didn’t work out this way. The room (48). Dated, not in a charming castle way more in a kinda scruffy way. Only towels for one person. Bit of damage and mould on the bath. Visible pipes in the ceiling. I get this had so be added after the castle was built but all they needed to do to cover it was a bit poster board and drop the height of the room. I’d say just over £100 would be more like it. We didn’t even get breakfast in the rate, but again I knew this on booking but expected a better room! I travel a lot with work and stay in many country houses and castle hotels and this was by far the most over priced I’ve ever stayed in. Caused a bit of a down on the night and the meal, which was good. I just felt all night that I’d been ripped off and even though the wife said she was fine, she was actually disappointed. Won’t be going back again.
