high price low value
The hotel entry looked very nice and gave a lot of hope on a good stay. entering the room was terrible with a room on the "courtyard". the room was small, old and did not give a clean impression.after going to the reception we got another room what was somewhat better, or at least the view was better. After having our son born in March, this was our first night away from home with just the 2 of us. booking a Hilton hotel, gives you a certain expectation of class and comfort. unfortunately this expectation was not met. after checkout i found that there was a deduction on my creditcard of €10,21 and when I mailed the hotel this morning they told me that this was a reservation that was made with check-in. unfortunately this was not a reservation because that was an amount of €50,- that was already refunded. long story short, i hope to get the money, that they cannot declare where it comes from, back on my account. I would like to warn people NOT to book this hotel or at least, lower your expectations of the Hilton in Amsterdam.. paying a room price of +/- €170,- per night? by the way, the hotel bar closes at 22:30?? and that in the middle of Amsterdam??? way overpriced for what you get. We will notgo to this hotel again, that is for sure.

The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Amsterdam Centraal Station has an excellent location. Landing at Amsterdam Schiphol airport, there is a train from the airport that takes you to Centraal Station. The hotel is a short walk from Centraal Station. The train tickets were good value at €5.50 one way (July 2019). Check-in was quick and easy, and we were given a welcome cookie. We also opted to include breakfast with the booking, which was a good option to start our day for sightseeing. The breakfast was a buffet style (though you could order individual items such as omelette's if you wished). The breakfast had a good range from hot food (egg, bacon etc) through to fruit and cereal. With the hotel being close to Centraal Station, transport links were easy. Tran stops, Metro and Trains stops are a short walk away from the hotel. The room was a reasonable size given that it was located in a city centre. It included an empty fridge, safe and iMac (which doubled as a tv). There is a gym in the basement, which has a reasonable amount of equipment (2 treadmills, bikes, one rowing machine, weights etc). There is no pool at the hotel. The staff were friendly and the room was cleaned very well every day. Shops are within walking distance of the hotel and there is a Starbucks connected to the hotel on the ground floor. There is also a small supermarket shop a minute walk from the hotel.

Fair 4.0
The hotel was lovely however we are very disappointed the way we were treated and spoken to.We arrived at the hotel at 9am on Friday,we were given the options to do our check in then or later as our check in is from 3pm which we were fully aware and at that time no room was available which was absolutely fine.We decided to check in at 9am gave our passports along with €300 we expressed the rooms to be together which the rep said was absolutely fine we even discuses our request with the hotel directly before our stay and were advised that will be fine.We came back at 3pm to get our luggages and our keys we had to go through the whole check in process again which made no sense and then was told there was no rooms available and no time scale given when asked about the availability. We were advised to come back at 3pm rooms will be available however then after so long we were given our keys and the rooms were on different floor we advised we discussed our request directly with the hotel and with a rep this morning and was advised the rooms will be together, the rooms were then were changed but not together as there was no availability for the rooms, after so long we were then upgraded to 3 exc rooms and advised they are all together, when we got to our rooms the rooms were different and not together,we called the reception and was told no one said the rooms will be together and only 2 upgrades which makes no sense and told us that's what we will get and hangedup. Not acceptable

Exceptional 10.0
The property was so close to the Central station and was perfect for our family of four with two short days to sight see Amsterdam. Because of late booking, we had to book two rooms which cost us a bit more than budgetted. they were able to give us two rooms next to each other. They were very comfortable, clean, modern rooms. We were on the upper floor and had a view of the cathedral. Reception staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the cookie at check in. Location was convenient - walking distance to shops and restaurants, great starting point for trams and boats. Great location for good photos also. Breakfast buffet was amazing and we regretted that we didnt give enough time to enjoy our meal because we didnt expect such variety. We had to check out at 6am to catch a morning flight so we requested for a breakfast to go in advance. We appreciated the breakfast they prepared for us consisting of fruit, yogurt, sandwich, water, power bar (make sure to ask for spoons!) which we enjoyed at the airport. As a last stop in Europe for our trip, overall, we were very pleased staying at this convenient, clean, friendly and comfortale hotel. A side note on museums: Because we didnt know to book for some museums months in advance, we missed out on Van Gogh and Ann Frank house. But the Rijksmuseum was a great alternative and you will be able to get a ticket.

a great location for getting a good sense of life
A great location for getting a good sense of life in this beautiful city. ideal for arriving by train as the hotel is close by to Centraal Station and trams. then a 10min walk to the hustle and bustle of the quaint streets which lead to the major shopping areas. We had a great view of the river and rotating restaurant in the newly developed north of the city. our room was located next to the Sky Lounge which might sound awful as we've young children, but the noise and partying could not be heard and we enjoyed drinks/snack there as a family on the saturday afternoon - taking in the eclectic roof top views. the room itself (executive suite) was great, although i would have to mention that the bedroom was a little tight between the bed/dressing table, one of the drawers wasn't 100% clean and inadequate bedding was not there on arrival. However a bit of tissue cleaned the drawer out, bedding was bought up within 15mins and as we were out enjoying the city, the layout of the room did not hamper our stay. put simply, we LOVED the hotel and having stayed in a few 4/5* hotels, we felt this really will provide lasting memories as being one of the best. The free cookies, water, apples on arrival was a great welcome but the warmth and helpfulness of quite literally, ALL the staff we encountered, just made this a platinum stay and I'm really hoping my girlfriends will want to stay when i tell them about it next month.
