Exceptional 10.0
Very nice, would stay again.
Beautiful, clean, business hotel. Really excellent breakfast - buffet had tremendous variety and quality, including substantial dishes like curries to everything one would want in an American style breakfast. I don't usually eat breakfast in hotels but i did here, 3x in one week (often as my only meal of the day) and invited a business associate to join me for a breakfast meeting for one of those. Steps from Clarke Quay and a handy 24 hour 7-11 across the street. A taxi cab is needed to business meetings downtown because it's hot, not because it's not walkable. Fortunately, the front staff make taxis very convenient. My only complaint: room service closes far too early. As a visitor who was time-shifted almost exactly half a day, I was hungry in the middle of the night. Hence, the value of the 7-11 across the street. All good otherwise. Enjoy.

When we got to the hotel we were led to the lobby which is on the 3rd floor. It was an easy check in but I had a little trouble understanding the guy. Also, as an fyi if you book a flight directly through Singapore airlines their breakfast buffet is free. Otherwise it's normally $33 SIN. If you booked through Expedia it's only $22 SIN but you have to sign up for it at their check in desk because at the breakfast buffet if you hadn't mentioned it earlier you will be charged $33 SIN. My friend and I stayed in a 2 twin bed room and I must say the room was small. You walk in and the bathroom was to my left. There was a stall for a shower and a stall for the toilet both were opaque. There is no bathroom door. The sink is separated by a curtain so you don't see the bedroom. The closet is behind the mirror. There are drawers on the otherside of the bathroom sink which is hard to see if the curtain is closed. In one of those drawers was the coffee machine. I must say though the beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well. One issue I had was one night I needed more towels and the person who answered didn't know English too well. An hour later and no towels so I called to cancel because I wanted to go to bed. The pool was ok. I was not expecting it to be so cold considering Singapore is so warm. There were also quite a few leaves in the pool. There also aren't too many lounge chairs that are not in the pool itself. The hotel itself is in a good location.

Glad that I read reviews before I booked. It is true, the room is just good enough for 2 people. To try to squeeze 3 people in one room would have been unbearable :) So I booked 2 rooms because there was 3 of us for this trip. Price is okay for what you get. The location is also okay, close to Clarke Quay. There are 2 MTR stations that is a 5 to 7 minutes walk. I forgot the name of the stations. It is close to Chinatown where you can explore many food options. If you are into "Michelin starred restaurants" , there is one that is so inexpensive called "Hawker Chan" - Liao Fan Hawker Chan. It is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel.

It's the 3rd time I visited this hotel over the last 4 years and was very disappointed during my last stay. Upon arriving I was informed that there would be maintenance during the night (emergency checks) resulting in no electricity (aircon at night) and emergency lights on. Please tell me, how difficult can it be as a hotel to offer something of compensation? A free meal, free breakfast, an extra coffee in the morning,... Instead I got a faked smile and reply that nothing can be done. Great! When arriving late and ordering food at 22:30, wrong order arrived and there was no option to put the amount on the room. Instead I had to get dressed again to go down and pay by card instantly. The call that came afterwards of the 'service manager' to ask about the experience of the food was completely irrelevant and only made things worse. "Was there a problem with the food?" - "Yes, wrong order arrived" - "Ah, so there was nothing wrong with the food itself? Thank you!" When leaving the hotel my wife was stopped from taking a taxi because the doorman was convinced a bill for lunch dish was not paid, which wasn't the case as we told him 7 times. Unfriendly as well as unprofessional. Not even a single apology was made and we had to wait until the bartender came out to confirm we had paid. Room was not clean upon arriving. Bathroom was full of hair. Clean things up, renovate the place and think about genuinly friendly staff. Especially if you dare charging USD 200 a night

Good 6.0
The good, convenient location. There is a pool. There is a restaurant on the ground floor. The bad, room is small, bathroom has no privacy so travel only with someone you are very comfortable with. The rooms are outdated and my room the aircon temperature didnt work. Housekeeping ignores the Do Not Disturb sign and will come in unannounced. Would I return, probably not as Singapore has so many other nice properties as well.
