Great location
Great hotel right next to a Metro station, 5mins walk from Atocha mainline station and 10 mins walk from the city centre. The roof top sun deck, spa pool and evening bar is a welcome retreat from the heat of the day and a lovely way to watch the sun go down. Only slight negative was the air-con which wasn’t as effective as it should have been - I couldn’t get the temperature below 23’

Gem in the centre!
Perfect hotel, located very centrally and easy to commute to and from. The exterior is stunning in an old building the interiors are chic and the rooftop with Jacuzzi is perfect for summer!

Location of the hotel was very good. The overall design and look of the hotels was modern. The rooms were a suitable size and clean. However, the bathroom did not have a fan and the frosted door didn’t close fully - this meant the whole room could become quite smelly. The air con was good. Our room was made up and cleaned everyday. The terrace was small, there weren’t meant sun beds so some people missed out. The pool wasn’t not as advertised. It is more a cold spa tub (similar to a hot tub). It was very small and if more than 3 people were in it it felt uncomfortable. It’s probably a 2m by 1m tub. The terrace serve drinks from 7pm though we booked thinking this was a 7 day all day service. We didn’t drink there but arrived to chill and read out books at 10pm. We found the barman to be quite rude. The hotel staff were friendly but incredibly slow. The check in process took ages considering we had paid in advance. Overall it is a good tourist hotel located within walking distance of all sites.

Champions league
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay I was there for the champions league final and made to feel welcome breakfast was what you would expect but plenty of choice would stay again if I was in Madrid

Gem of a hotel in a great location !
We had a late afternoon flight into Madrid. We walked to the Airport Express shuttle to catch the bus to Atocha station. Cost €5 only 3 stops, took about 20 minutes. The hotel is about 10/15 minute walk up hill from the station. We had a good welcome from the staff and went to our top floor room level 7. The room was lovely but no views. Hotel is in a great position. Plenty of bars and restaurants around the area. 10 minute walk to a few squares that do tapas. The roof top bar was a bit hit and miss to be honest a couple of times we popped out there and there wasn’t anybody serving. The spa pool was lovely and refreshing on a warm Sunday afternoon. We returned back to the airport the same way we came after a fantastic long weekend. Madrid has jumped to the top of list for city breaks, we will return and will not hesitate to book the Catalonia Atocha again.

Very good 8.0
Good clean hotel with the benefit of a jacuzzi pool and long chairs on the rooftop terrace - although shade/umbrellas would be good as it is very hot without them. And the hotel needs to replenish the rooftop towels on a more regular basis Also we complained that the water in the ensure bathroom basin did not run away - but nothing was done. Otherwise the hotel was clean and bright, the room was good (although the a/c was fixed at no more than 21 degrees which was a bit cold), and the staff were charming

Very disappointing
We were moved from a quiet, fairly spacious room on the 3rd floor to a smaller room on 1st floor overlooked by the main stairs because the air con in the 1st room but whem we complained we were just told it had similar floor footage and there was nothing else available. Most of the room was as L shaped corridor. Corridors are not rooms. Despite all this we were offered nothing for either the inconvenience or downgrade but just when we thought it couldn't get any worse on our 2nd day there were constant power cuts that were clearly exclusive to the hotel. Apart from anything else it was dangerous. Our bathroom had no window so without lights it was pitch dark. There was no communication from the staff. We had to go to the desk to find out what l was happening. We weren't even offered a torch. After several complaints and a request to see the manager we were offered free breakfasts but this seemed little compensation for all the inconvenience we had been put to and we were glad to leave. Hotels are more than comfortable beds and roof top bars Service is everything and we didn't get any

Roof with a view and a good sized room too!
The hotel is well appointed and our room 406 was very clean and quiet. For a hotel in central Madrid it was also of a good size as was the bathroom which had a very large shower cubicle. Only minor complaint was that the toiletries were not refreshed on the second day but this attention to detail is the difference between a good stay and a great one. The roof terrace although small was clean although drinks service hard to come by until the bar opened early evening. It is a lovely spot to enjoy an early evening drink in the sunshine with views over the city. The barman was particularly helpful and welcoming. The hotel is well placed for Retiro Park, Sol and Plaza Major as well as the charming back streets. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby and very handy for the Anton Martin Metro Stop. Would have no hesitation in returning.
