Citadines Mercer Hong Kong
Exceptional10.0
An unparalleled personal experience... Loved it.
I don't often feel the urge to leave reviews but my stay at Citadines was exceptional. Decided to take my mom to HK for a few days for some rest and food. We initially booked at the Citadines harbourview where some of the rooms had been recently renovated. My mom is very sensitive to paint smell and felt a little nauseated. The staff did everything possible to move us to different rooms. Eventually we asked if we could perhaps move to the other property.. mercer.. They not only refunded us the prepaid amount but arranged everything with the Mercer. Catherine at the Mercer was waiting for us and made sure my mom felt welcome and really treated her... Like her own mother. The others on the team especially Ming and Mark but really all the others... Were always at hand to literally do anything, always smiles and something funny to chat about. We loved it so much that extended our stay twice. This level of personal service that really came from the heart is difficult to find and continued throughout our stay each time and without exception. The room itself..an executive studio apartment.. Is fantastically done up and the staff were again happy to provide extra cutlery and free drinks in the minibar. I would like to add a special mention for Carol at the breakfast room. So lovely and efficient and smiling with super intelligent conversation and great food. I really can't thank the guys enough and a special thank you from my mom. She is looking forward to being back there soon.

Resonsive staff
The lower floors suffer from disturbance from a bar across the street which stays open most of the night and defintely impedes sleep. The hotel is well aware of the issue. In all other respects the location is excellent - walking distance to all central areas, MTR closeby, piers etc. The staff and their service are generally excellent....and they responded very well to the sleep issue - otherwise my review would have been very negative. Breakfast could be improved, but okay.

Comfortable with reservations
Staff friendly and helpful and the room was large and comfortable, but the aircon was a mess. Even turned low it was too strong, and without it the room became stifling. For those used to a Citadines with full kitchen facilities, this is not what you get here. There is basically a microwave, coffee machine and kettle. Crockery and cutlery were minimum. The location is a bit weird. You're right on the edge of the Central shopping and business district, but the side street the hotel is on looks rough. It's perfectly safe, but if you are not familiar with HK, it might seem off putting at first. Overall, though, this is good value in a city where accommodation is expensive.
