Renervations going on. So only have a small area to sit for a drink. Drinks very expensive. Coffee £3.99. Pint of guiness £6.50...changing rooms have no locks on doors. 2 doors 1 says womens changing room other door says disabled. But it is the same room. Although u can lock that door. I am disabled and there is no place to sit down in the changing room. The shower in my disabled room was only lukewarm. The main front door smashed so i could only just get my mobility scooter through it although there is a other enterance on the 1st floor via the excel lift. The staff were very good. I would like to review the hotels for disabled people as i wonder if a disabled person is asked when hotels are built? Overall once renervations are done (not told about them before we arrived) it will be a great hotel to stay in.

Exceptional
Nice, clean and luxurious hotel for a fair price!
The staff was very couteous and polite, the check-in was very easy (even at 1am) and the hotel room was very clean, welcoming and luxurious. I was a little bit disappointed by the docksider Restaurant in terms of the price compared to the quality. But there is a very good steakhouse near the hotel for people that have a bit more money to spend on a dinner... I had an amaizing view from my hotel room, which was quite big and very clean, welcoming and luxurious. Also the bed was very confortable! The bathroom was clean and bigger than expected. It was very easy to get from Aloft London Excel to the center of London(DLR and Underground... oyster card recommended). The gym and the pool were both clean and nice places to relax or do your workout. The only thing I didnt like about the pool was the fact that there weren't any lockers where I could leave my phone,my wallet, etc.... Talking about the food offering I can recommend checking out the snack bar in the "Re:fuel" area in the lobby of Aloft London Excel. Especially if you dont have the time to have a proper breakfast or dont need that much for breakfast (and also if you want to hang out in your hotel room and watch some TV or something like that). Also, the check-out took barely any time. In conclusion I'd say Aloft London Excel is a very nice, clean, luxurious and welcoming hotel for a very fair price! I've had a great experience and I'd definitely recommend booking a room at Aloft London Excel!

Very good
Liked: Very close to DLR station, good facilities, comfortable room. Disliked: on check in being told for our 3 night stay we’d have to pay a £25 per night security deposit which wouldn’t be charged to our card, but was “pre-authorised” - in fact it was taken from our account the day after check in, and now after checking out am waiting for this to be refunded (told at check out it can take a couple of days). Someone else staying 1 night had to pay £75 deposit, another staying 2 nights had to pay £50 per night deposit. Given this DOES get taken from your account and must go into theirs for at least 2 days, they must be accruing some interest!!

Nice and modern but attention to detail needed
The hotel is modern and right next door to the DLR, so easy to get to the underground at Canning Town. The rooms were nice but more thought needed. Amazing filter coffee sachets in the room- but where do you put the soggy coffee filled sachet that is soaking wet ? No bin near the kettle, and the 1 bin in the bedroom had no bag in it, so would have made a real mess of the bin. Towels are above the toilet (directly above) which doesnt seem very hygienic to me. When you come out of the toilet with a hand towel and wash your hands, there is nowhere to hang the towel near the sink. The shower has no tray, (tiled floor) so when you open the shower door outwards, it leaves wet water in front of the toilet, not to mention the toilet being next to the shower so not much privacy there. Fire Alarm went off at midnight, but then stopped after 3 rings, left us in doubt as to what to do, being 7 floors up we didnt want to take any risks. The lift has a sign to say "do not use in the event of a fire" but there was no signage at all to say where the stairs were ? On top of all this we had booked a twin room and was given a small poky double room. When i said my daughter wouldnt sleep for 3 nights if we shared a bed, I was told they had a big conference in and all the twins had been taken up by the conference - nothing like making you feel inferior ! Then told we could have another bed in the room, to be called 5 mins later to say our room wasnt big enough. My daughters 18th marred

Very good
Great location but below average food
This is a really nice property with excellent rooms and facilities and is a 2 mom walk from Prince Regent DLR station making access into the city very easy. Unfortunately the restaurant food is well below power and let’s the property down. The breakfast is average but hot food could be warmer. The evening food was really poor. At a table of 4 we all were disappointed and I would say avoid the Steaks. Overall a good property but eat elsewhere
