Headlands Hotel
Chose this hotel for it's position, feedback and price. We saw that it was stated to be tired but everything else seemed positive. On arrival we were pleased to see it was as listed right on the front with the Pleasure beach next door. We were lucky and found a parking place on the forecourt. It has steps to enter and I did not see a ramp for mobility challenged. The reception was friendly enough with a guided tour of what we needed. The stairs were steep and tight to the top floor where are room was, but there is a manual small 1940's lift for cases or up to three people. The view was pleasant and the room clean, we were pleasantly surprised that there was plenty of room in the family room although only one wardrobe and a few draws. The bed although soft was comfortable, the main problem was the bathroom, a bath with a fixed side shower panel making it difficult to pul yourself back up. We gave up with the shower which had a complete mind of it's own, turning itself on in the middle of the night. In the morning when trying to shower although the hot pressure was good there was no choice of having anything other than a trickle luke warm shower or cold, I did mention this to staff who said they would inform someone to have a look, but the next day it never came on at all. The breakfast was fairly good with plenty of choice including traditional English. The rest room and games room were not very inviting with stained displaced ceiling tiles and mixed old furniture. OK overall

Short break in Aug
My partner, with her 6 year old daughter, and i spent 3 nights at The Headlands Hotel. The staff we extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble, free parking was easy, and the complimentary breakfast easily filled you for the day. The room we had overlooked the promenade and sea , beds were comfortable, shower and bath water was hot and plentiful ,and everything in the room functioned as expected, the only negative comment was the place was in need of refurbishment in places. The location was ideal for the pleasure beach but was out of the hustle and bustle of a more central location, i'd certain go back.
